There are common themes in all stories -- that is why there are only a handful of genres, character archetypes, settings, and a limited number of themes, and possible story lines and forms.

I find the idea that unless the story has no parallels to other stories that it must be a plagiarism a fantastic one in itself -- I really can't see many people that have a background in literary art claiming that.

If you actually read the stories of the figures that the parallels are made from, without consciously attempting to find them, you will find many of the purported ones labored at best, and the rest to be expected, as mere coincidence.

Take any similarly themed works of fiction, and attempt to draw parallels -- not being able to would be what would be amazing.

I'm rather cautious about the Horus/Jesus thing.  In fact, I don't use it against Christians at all.  The source for most of these allegations traces back to the author cited by Zeitgeist.  And I have qualms about using her information.  Consider that nowhere but in her original research is Isis called Isis-meri.  Consider that nowhere Horus is mentioned being baptized except in her original research.  Indeed, what business does an Egyptian deity have being baptized?  If I recall correctly, people thought John was nuts because no one else was dunking people back then.

No, all of this original "research" was done by reading hieroglyphs that no one else has translated yet, so that's the reason she's in conflict with the rest of our knowledge.  Yup.  The 12 disciples of Horus, Meri being connected to Isis, the baptism of Horus, birth announcement by angels, birth in a cave (this is in direct conflict, as Horus is claimed to be born in swamp everywhere else), and so much more is all the product of original research.  I call bunk.
If sin may be committed through inaction, God never stopped.

The whole point of Zeitgeist, is to force you to ask yourself questions, not just believing it flat out.  That would make as just as bad as the rest of 'em :).

No, the point of that movie is to spread insanity that people buys into without looking into it. Otherwise the makers of the movie would not have made the movies -- as looking into the things they concluded reveals them to be nonsense.

Zeitgeist is not a movie about critical, or clear thinking, it is a movie about conspiracy theorizing, which is neither by any stretch of the imagination.
