QuoteA man who tried to save another man from a snake that had coiled around his ankle has died after being bitten multiple times at a centenary event at a central Queensland school.

That's weird, they aren't supposed to do that.

There's Kim's train trip and his new nuclear missile toting submarine.

I have one. There were local elections in Norway and I'm now in a "blue bubble" since a few nearby districts flipped colours. Mostly, the voters rejected Labour, the Centre Party (Politically, sort-of "greens." Like to see themselves as a block-indepoendent "countryside party," though they do lean Socialist-ish) and the more unhinged environmentalists while the blue-blue constellation (Conservatives and Progress Party) did very well.

I'm quite content with the outcome.

The European Union told Apple they couldn't sell the lightning connector as it lead to necessary electronic waste. The USB C connector can be used on multiple devices and can thus be considered universal.

I'll second that motion. Minijack is woefully underutilized these days. On a iPhone, if you have a corded headset, you get to choose between charging or listening. Well, some of them longer podcasts I'm into tend to necessitate both.

...So hang on, El Niño contributes to drying up Australia? Some reach on that thing! (Though I suppose it may be somewhat indirect and butterfly-effect-y..?)

Old Seer

I have no reason to believe the climate change claims. I see no significant difference from my yute to today. Where I am it's been a normal summer. And now I'm supposed to accept global boiling.

I think climate change is real enough, though it's a matter of scale. Looking at it from my house, it's mostly within normal parameters as well.

That's not to say that I'm about to join the unwashed teenagers (all the love in the world) in chaining myself to heavy machinery - I have almost nothing but beef with the political side of handling of any potential issues, but I do find the science (Well... Statistics, really) interesting enough.
