Did YOU wake up today and felt like reading a textbook?  :studious: Itching to LEARN something new?  Want to SAVE MONEY on really expensive books?  :smilenod:

Then I have just the link for YOU! :woohoo!:

QuoteWith the Coronavirus outbreak having an unprecedented impact on education, Springer Nature is launching a global program to support learning and teaching at higher education institutions worldwide. Remote access to educational resources has become essential. We want to support lecturers, teachers and students during this challenging period and hope that this initiative will go some way to help.

Catch it before it disappears!  ;)

Free access to a range of essential textbooks from all disciplines

Anecdotes:

Fiona: I won't be inventing anything during quarantine like Isaac Newton invented Calculus but I sure will be reading Calculus With Applications by Peter D. Lax, Maria Shea Terrell!

Jake: At first I felt really lazy to pick up a book and read, but then I found Energy Harvesting and Energy Efficiency by Nicu Bizon, Naser Mahdavi Tabatabaei, Frede Blaabjerg, Erol Kurt and I just couldn't put it down!

Nathan: What can I say? With a title like Of Cigarettes, High Heels, and Other Interesting Things by Marcel Danesi I just had to download and see what it was all about!

Shirley: I've been feeling like a couch potato lately so I decided to pick up Plant Physiology, Development and Metabolism by Satish C Bhatla, Manju A. Lal in hopes of better understanding myself. I don't regret it!

This is just really small print that nobody really reads but if you did please don't please don't please don't hate me!

Hmm. "Institutions will be able to access more than 500 key textbooks across Springer Nature's eBook subject collections for free."

I have a sinking feeling that since I'm not an institution nor currently associated with one, I may have difficulty. Did I miss something?

I don't think there should be any difficulty. I'm not currently logged into any institutional account or connected via the university's proxy and have been able to download all the ebooks I want with no issues.

In the link I posted you can click on another link which will open an Excel sheet with hundreds of book titles. If you search the columns to the right you will find the link to the Springer Nature page of each specific book from where you can download.

Where are the sexy art pics? Anecdotes or recommendations? Disgustingly inappropriate soundtrack?

I know I am very disappointing. I will try harder next time, although I've had to stop myself a few times from posting stuff that would have got me banned for life from HAF.

You're not disappointing, I'm just playing.  ;D

 Just be sure to add an NSFW tag! There was this one time when someone posted an image without any warning and I had to explain to someone sitting next to me why that image was on my screen. Fun times. ::)

Yes, I know. Some of the stuff is not only NSFW, but not even suitable for most people's homes.

Thank you, xSilverPhinx. I was able to open the spreadsheet with OpenOffice, but I failed to scroll far enough to the right to find the links.  :thumbsup2:

Excellent, F. I tried using the search bar on the announcement page, but it produced unsatisfactory results. I didn't consider that Springer is a creature with multiple tentacles and that I should try a different approach. First thing though, I'm going to reboot the computer.  :thumbsup2:
