I didn't see anyone ripping into him for his grammar, though. :/

As long as I can figure out what someone means, I think there's no reason for the grammar police, which is beside the point anyway.  If I can't understand what they mean, then I'll ask for an English translation -- and if they used bad grammar while correcting someone else's grammar, it's game on.
