Your dog will live on in your memory because you loved him dearly. He lived a good life at the hands of a loving owner. While it's terribly sad that Milo is bereft of life, I don't think it's innapropriate to celebrate his life; all those wonderful times you shared.

When my fox terrier passed away (I was like 17), I was really sad but when I look back now I remember my best friend. It brings me comfort that we shared friendship and good times.
