Rap is not now, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be, music!

Oh lord. Don't go down that road. I've even gotten into arguments with my dad over this.

If I could so easily define genres I don't like as not music I'd gladly say that metal with screaming and dubstep are not music. But we don't get to do that. Music is not defined that way.

Rap has melody, it has rhythm. It is music. We don't get to define it any other way.
My dear, Harmonie, was the argument with your dad this extensive?

Hey Mags, I am almost embarrassed to say that I liked the Pharrel Williams bit.   That is a lot different from the noise I hear o n the street.

I must be  weird or something because I can get down with the spirited black church choir music. Them cats can flat out get it on.

When I was younger, especially when I was still single and you know "Still Out There" on the dating scene I would immediately cringe when meeting someone new and they would say something like, "So ah, what kinda music do you like, do ya like country or rock"?

As if that was the only two genres of music available. I could never hang out with, let alone date someone who only listened to one style of music.

My answer has always been that I like, no I love music, all of it. Music is the one thing we can choose that is completely reflective of our current mood, or maybe what we happen to be doing at the time. If I'm in my office working I tend to listen to instrumental music, switching from jazz to classical to electronic to native american flute music.
Driving in my car in the summer with the windows rolled down, cruising through the smokies maybe some Allman Brothers, or Johnny Cash...dancing in the backyard patio on a summer night with friends and family, probably some pop music, old and new.
Sitting in my living room curled up with a book and a pot of tea perhaps I cycle through some blues or early bluegrass, heck even some gospel music. I even have a small collection of Gregorian monks chanting.
One cycle class I sometimes participate at the gym plays an excellent collection of fuck and rap music (I quit going to one teacher specifically who thought the best motivating music was the soundtrack to the first fucking Rocky music, I mean really, WTF?)

Just as I can't see only listening to one specific genre of music, I can't understand hating a specific genre of music either, but hey to each their own I guess.

I'll leave this, thought it was funny.

Remember the movie "10", starring Bo Derek and Dudley Moore? This is a very excellent and relative scene. Fuck Music with Ravel.

I  frequent another forum that is: Boatdesign.net. It is an international forum in which some of the worlds top marine engineers, architects, and sailors are contributors. Many newbies come to the site for advice or counsel from the professionals who are generous to a fault. ......Today some dip shit troll said he wanted advice about a certain boat type. He gave a reference website that turned out to be the entrance portal to numerous porn sites....... like bondage, Asian fuck scenes, and other kinky stuff.

I am grumpy about that. Not that I am a prude, not likely, but I resent that someone can so easily defile a serious place with trashy stunts.  I'd be resentful if someone polluted our HAF site too.
