The ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN today presented their latest results in the search for the long-sought Higgs boson. Both experiments see strong indications for the presence of a new particle, which could be the Higgs boson, in the mass region around 126 gigaelectronvolts (GeV).

Just got it in a newsletter today, so reading... Seems pretty solid at the moment. Very nice.

They've already conducted an interview with the particle.  ;D

Its a very exciting find. Whither or not it is the Higgs or another type of exotic particle is yet to be determined, but either way it is a very interesting find.
It appears to me (whether rightly or wrongly) that direct arguments against Christianity and theism produce hardly any effect on the public; and freedom of thought is best promoted by the gradual illumination of men's minds which follows from the advance of science - Charles Darwin

I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the object of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a god, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism. - Albert Einstein

Religion is a by product of fear. For much of human history, it may have been a necessary evil, but why was it more evil than necessary? Isn't killing people in the name of God a pretty good definition of insanity. - Arther C. Clarke

Faith means not wanting to know what is true. - Friedrich Nietzsche

Weeell... Not really. There is a chance the particle is not Higgs boson, but from what I'm reading, it is reasonably well-verified. The questions now are, among others what properties does it posess? Can it be just one of several variations of Higgs boson?

Cern chief Rolf Heuer says there is only a 0.000057% chance of the particle detection being wrong.

Meanwhile on the FSM pirate ship they have finally found Higgs the Bosun.  He was paralytic drunk in the bilges.

Also, out on the prairies, they have discovered a Hogg's Bison, previously thought to have been extinct since 1883.

In Salem, archaeologists have dug up the remains of a hag's besom, a relic of the witch trials.

He doesn't like to talk about it. Painful subject.

You guessed. Or have you heard the embarrassing story?  I'm not going to say anything except that it was very dark.
