Today I went to visit a friend who was presenting her poster in a local scientific mini conference. The reviewer who was evaluating the posters came to hers and asked that she begin. I thought to myself, this woman (who was evaluating my friend's poster) looks familiar, but I couldn't recall where I had seen her before. Was it her hair that was different and not making it any easier for me to remember where I had seen her?

I wasn't sure.
Anyway when it was done the reviewer turned to my friend and said "That was a great presentation, well done. I would just like to make one small correction, though. Your supervisor's name doesn't have an accent on the 'A'.
She was enjoying herself. I glanced at my friend and saw that all the colour had drained from her face. She continued. "I know this because I'm married to him."
My friend buried her face in her hands and I had to keep myself from laughing once I got over the shock, partly from nervousness. It was then that I recognised her. We all laughed about it afterwards.
Moral of the story: if you don't want to go through unnecessary embarrassment don't misspell your supervisor's name!
