View topics from the board index

On some other forums it is possible to see not only the user, but the topic of the last thread under the "last post" column.  It makes browsing for topics from the index a lot easier.  Is there a way to do that on this forum?

I'm sure it is possible but actually implementing the mod and maintaining it may be another issue.  I can put it on the to do list for when I have a block of time to work on the forum knowing that if I accidentally kill it (others can verify that I have accidentally killed the forum more than once while trying to 'fix things) I'll have time to correct my mistake.

while the old nickname in all the forum was updated to the new one, the BOard Index Page and Recent Topics, report always the old one.
