A holiday about feeling thankful is a good holiday, ( and I don't think theists have a monopoly on gratitude  ;D)

My belly is full of turkey and I am a happy kitty.
Happy Thanksgiving!

"We've thought of life by analogy with a journey, with pilgrimage which had a serious purpose at the end, and the THING was to get to that end; success, or whatever it is, or maybe heaven after you're dead. But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.

I wish I lived near the US/Canada border, then I could celebrate Thanksgiving two times a year.
Happy Thanksgiving, DeterminedJuliet!

For we who have been told, but forgot... What is it, exactly, that you are supposed to be thankful for?  ???

Happy Turkey Day Juliet! Now come the turkey and rice casseroles, turkey hash, turkey (hot and cold) sandwiches, turkey and eggs...*chucklin*
The essence of the mind is not in what it thinks, but how it thinks. Faith is the surrender of our mind; of reason and our skepticism to put all our trust or faith in someone or something that has no good evidence of itself. That is a sinister thing to me. Of all the supposed virtues, faith is not.

Personally, I'm thankful that I won the genetic lottery and was born in the first world, among other things. Other than that, I think it's just an excuse to eat a lot of food with family and feel optimistic  ;D

Happy Thanksgiving, DeterminedJuliet! Enjoy the holiday. I agree 100% with you that theists don't have a monopoly on gratitude.
