Tonight a co-worker was taken from the building in handcuffs. He was the cell-owner (low-level supervisor) of the area of the pharmacy where prescriptions for controlled substances are filled, the area I used to work in before I got moved to the returns room. He's a nice guy, but has been having a lot of personal problems since his divorce last year. Now he's got massive legal problems on top of that. Given how many jobs my employer has brought to the area, I doubt there will be much said about it in the local news.
Gosh! Is the implication that he was skimming orders and selling the result?
Yep - at least to the skimming part. The controlled substances area is home to things like Xanax, Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycontin, and Ritalin (and their generic counterparts). Most of it has a high street value, but it is also easy to get dependent on most of it too. The supervisors and pharmacists are very careful about what pharmacy technicians and clerks have access. However, there is no predicting how someone may act when they are feeling under the gun.
