Title: Batteries in the Brain
Post by: Ecurb Noselrub on April 15, 2012, 02:34:25 PM
I've heard of bats in the belfry, but batteries in the brain sounds more promising. Article on treating depression with batteries/electrodes.  Maybe we could all use one.

This is not as rare as I had thought. Gunther von hagens the guy who does the plasticised bodies has alzheimer's and he has two electrodes in his brain to stop the shakes so he can still work.

He's recently completed a Crucifixion statue(?). There was a documentary (http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2012-03-26/channel-4-to-show-gunther-von-hagens-documentary-crucifixion-on-easter-sunday) about it on Easter Sunday. It was very interesting and well worth a watch.

It's on YouTube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryaXbs78Xk4

Tried to watch it. Got a message "the uploader has not made this video available in your country." Oh, well.

Apparently so  :(

It's a UK production for Channel 4 which is sold worldwide so I assume there are copyright issues. I've added a specific thread about the statue/artwork.

Neat. I would much rather go through this procedure once than have to take pills for the rest of my life.
