Mrs Meech managed to remove Smurf from the cage and then took the pet to a vet.
"The hamster must have gone along chewing the bars and had somehow managed to pull itself through because it was stuck on the outside," she said.
Smurf is "now back to her normal loopy self," said Mrs Meech

I used to have plenty of hamsters, and I could see this magnet working as an anti-escape device ;D Hamster escapes, look around metal!

Mental note: must add some flavour to the hamsters too, to discourage the dog from tasting it.
