Hey all! My absence from the board of late has been due to lots of travel, lots of meetings, and now some nice R&R (relaxation and recreation).
My company (a biotech involved in new compounds for use in oncology and hematology) has been virtually exploding with newly discovered "cool stuff" lately, and I've been totally swamped, 24/7.
But this weekend through next Wednesday is all vacation time, and I'll hopefully get some good photos to share with you. I'm in Venice, Florida, staying with a retired friend, and we are spending our days doing wildlife photography. So with any luck, I'll have some fun stuff to share. I've already got a few interesting birds: Rosiette Spoonbill, Great Blue Herons, Anhingas, and Snowy Egrets. I'm hunting for some alligators, and then some birds of prey too. The ospreys are really active right now, and they're always a good show.
So anyway, as the title says, having a great time, wish you were here to share in the amazing south Florida wildlife! As soon as I get any decent photos uploaded, I'll be sure to post them.
I was wondering about you just yesterday :) Glad you're having a good time!
Hi!
I'll wait exited for your photos! I love taking photos myself, so of course I'm going to check out your photos! :)

What did you get?
A Olympus SP-51OUZ :D
I wish I could upload them while still out here in Venice, but I'm stuck with just the iPad and no laptop. I can't upload photos to the net with the equipment at hand. Maybe by Friday after I get back home.
I did get some good shots today of Rosiette Spoonbills, a couple of medium sized 'gators, some Ospreys, Pelicans, and various other birds. Can't wait to share them!
Weather is really nice, too. Not too hot.

It'll be interesting to see what the results are like. The stuff you've already done is good.

Holding you to that one, particularly regarding ospreys.

Yes, your photos are amazing, Rose. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing yours, too, McQ.
Thanks :D
I love birds of prey, if you got a snapshot of any, please post it! ;D
Hehe, I'll do that :D

I don't see why pelicans aren't classed as birds of prey, it's just unfair discrimination because they have floppy feet.
I've only just arrived, so I don't know you, but you seem popular with the ladies.

Hey what?
This seems like an unlikely suggestion if directed at me so I have to ask, you aren't talking to yourself again are you?
I was talking to McQ, New England clam chowder. (I can call you New England clam chowder, yes? ;))

I suppose so, though why you'd want to call a New South Wales pudding a New England clam chowder I'm not sure.

I think this has to be currently the most surreal post on the forum. For the sake of my sanity I hope that remains the case.
Tank, agreed. I'm having trouble following the conversation (but also secretly hoping that Pudding will take the initiative to post a picture of a bowl of soup wearing a Sunday crown.)
Anyway, glad that you're having a great time McQ! Can't wait to see the pictures!
A candidate for the "quote" thread, yes?

If you like it, then add it ;D
Hope this works. I'm borrowing a friend's computer to try and upload a few pics from this trip. Both photos from the wild. No zoos or pets involved! Enjoy!

Awesome, in every sense, awesome!
Wow!
Those are very good.
Wow! Beautiful pictures :D
Fantastic pictures! I notice the alligator also has a fish in its mouth -- please tell me that wasn't after swallowing the heron.

Heh-heh!
No, it was just an unlucky fish.
Thanks, all. It was a nice way to spend several days after all the hectic months of work recently.
I'll post some others on the Photo thread.
Awesome pics, very high quality :o

Talk about bad timing...for the gliders. I'd imagine it's scary though...going about your buisness until struck from above like that. :o
As for pelicans, I think it has to do with beaks and claws. Pelicans are...fishers ;) Hardly as impressive. 8)
