My wife and I just finished a scrumptious meal of corned beef & cabbage (with carrots), roasted potatoes, hot bread and Guinness Extra Stout.  The road is now rising up to meet me!  I just hope the wind at my back is not from the cabbage I just ate.

I'm making the corned beef and soda bread today, we celebrate tomorrow when we actually have time for it.  But my apt smells very Irish right now.

That sounds Irish-American to me - not sure that's what they'll be eating in Dublin.
But I've no doubt it'll be delicious from your kitchen, Cats.

It's slow-cooked in beer -- I'm not sure if that's traditional or not, but it does come out pretty good.

Canada suffers St Patrick's Day riot in London, Ontario (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-17422582)

QuoteRioters fought with firefighters and police in the Canadian city of London, Ontario, as St Patrick's Day parties spiralled out of control overnight.

Dozens of police were drafted in to deal with the unrest, which was sparked when several student parties spilled on to the streets.

Rioters hurled bottles at police and set a TV truck alight, feeding the flames with a propane tank and TV sets.

Police said 11 people were arrested and appealed for rioters to come forward.

Police were called out late on Saturday, but did not move in until 04:00 on Sunday (08:00 GMT).

Yea. Like that's gonna happen!
