Hello all,
I'm a 44 year old married software developer in Baton rouge LA. According to the Happy Atheist map, I may be the only infidel in the state.
Maybe some day I'll post a long detailed account of my journey here, but i guess it all started in St. Mary's Cathedral, Lafayette, IN. I was listening to the sermon, and thinking to myself: What if this is all just made up? I think I was 8.
A little desparate backsliding into Born-Again Christianity, a fascination with Ayn Rand in my late teens, a Rush song or two, and here I am a full fledged Atheist.
How's that for the short version?
I hope to make some new friends here,
Philip
Welcome, Philip! Glad to have you on board!
Hi Philip - welcome to the board!
Steve
Welcome to the forum, antares. It's nice to have another free-thinking Rush fan in the group.
Welcome, Antares/Philip. Rush? Who's that? I'm much too young to remember Rush.
Hey, we'll take the short version of your deconversion. Thanks for sharing it.
MommaSquid, McQ favorite Rush album? I'd have to say Moving Pictures, although Signals is a close second. I haven't kept up with the last few CDs.

Moving Pictures...what an awesome album! Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Camera Eye, Red Barchetta and (my all time favorite instrumental) YYZ...(digs CD out of the case) Sounds better every time I listen.
Exit...Stage Left was really great, too. I love "The Trees" and"Closer to the Heart"
"Subdivision" is the best track on the Signals album. That's a great song.
I seriously don't listen to my CD collection often enough!
So funny. This post made me go digging around for my old albums. Found Moving Pictures. Ahhhhhh....the good old days......
Hello there! Welcome to the site. I'm new too, but I'm sure we'll make our way here just fine.

you should have them all ripped to mp3 by now, so easy to find it all that way

I do have most of my CDs converted to mp3 files, but my stereo speakers are far superior to those on my computer.
Rush deserves to be heard on good speakers.
