QuoteShe said the campaign has been challenging, and said some would "have to be crazy to want" to be president. But she said she and her husband escape that because for them "it's completely a spiritual thing. This is God's will."
"The 'want' is a mission to make the culture a better culture, more pleasing to God," Mrs. Santorum said. "For us it's all about making the world a better place."

I likely won't vote, but I would certainly prefer another four years of Obama as opposed to this douche. I think Michelle Obama is an elitist bitch, but I would prefer having that impose itself on my television than this crazy lady and her crazy husband.
I simply thought the stupid things that vomited out of her mouth were humorous. I have had a few, so my apologies if the above is not the clearest it could have been.

I haven't been following all to closely, but I think Mitt Romney is who the Republican elites still want as the nominee. Ron Paul is losing primaries but gaining delegates, and Santorum had the push by the some Christian group that promoted him.
I think he is still essentially in the running, but I don't think he has amassed the delegates to stand a chance at the convention. I hope he doesn't have enough delegates to negotiate with the one who ends up with the nomination anyway.
Like I said though, I haven't been following all this that closely. I personally have read a lot of "Santorum Surge" headlines, but that was about 3 weeks or so ago. Things may have changed since then. Hopefully it is the final nail in his presidential coffin.
Now if only Mitt's wife was so religious and idiotic I would be a happy man.
Both US and Aus have a Senate and a House of Reps, we have no equivalent of a president.
US states appoint two senators each and ends up with about 100 senators.
Aus has six states appointing twelve senators plus four from territories make 76.
At general elections only half of the senators are up for election.
This does give the opportunity for the election of candidates outside of the major two parties. Greens and independents usually hold the balance of power.
I only just checked the structure of the US Senate, only two from each state with little chance of any but major party reps winning. It gives me a better understanding of why some Americans are so dissatisfied with the system.
The US House of Reps, 435 members and none independent, sheesh, that's extraordinary.
oh dear, she calls her husband 'really smart', and according to her husband 'Satan understands the pride of smart people', so surely that means he's likely to have been corrupted by Satan :o
Must...supress....gag....reflex.....

"Our invisible friend told us that my husband should run for president. For that reason, he has the least crazy reason for running for president.". :D
Surely they know how ridiculous that is... Right?
Yeah, well Michelle Bachmann, Rick Santorum, Ricky Perry and Herman Cain all claimed that god told them to run for president. If that's true, he's got a great sense of humor :)
There's two independent Senators in the US: Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Lieberman was a Democrat (albeit a very conservative one) who lost the Democractic primary in 2008 but won as an independent. Sanders has always been independent, including his stint in the House of Representatives, and is also a Socialist, the only one in US government as far as I know. But both caucus with the Democrats.
Rick Santorum and his wife are both whackadoos. While it's not quite as juicy as Sarah Palin promoting abstinence only and ending up with a pregnant teenage daughter, Santorum's wife had a medically necessary abortion years ago that would be prohibited now if her husband's policies on abortion were actively in effect.
Pot, meet kettle.

Nice observation, I had already forgotten about those statements. Now I find her comments to be that much more humorous.
Why is making the world a better place her job? Did the world ask to be made better? By her?
I suppose that it's vaguely possible that God told them all to run for office. This doesn't mean that God promised all of them that they'd win. It's possible that he just wants to world to see what fools they are.

Though it doesn't take anything away from the hypocrisy, Santorum's wife technically didn't have an abortion. Labor was induced as a result of the antibiotics she needed to take to fight off infection. But it's still sickening that after an experience like that, he still feels that abortion should not be allowed under any circumstance, considering how close they came to requiring one to save her life. It's a little murky as to whether his stated policies would have allowed her to die, but it's possible.
The abortion comparison comes in because they induced labor knowing that the fetus would die. Considering how hard he is on partial-birth abortion especially, it's kind of ironic that he still opposes it in cases where it's needed to save the life of the mother. It's arguable that what they did isn't that far removed from a partial birth abortion in similar circumstances.

Trolled by a mutual imaginary friend... Somehow, that never gets old. :D
Santorum: a word for all sorts of nastiness (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/us-presidential-election-2012/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503227&objectid=10787785)

This so infuriated gay rights activist and columnist Dan Savage that he decided to pay Santorum back by "attaching his name to a sex act that would make his big, white teeth fall out of his big, empty head"
This election with the GOP it seems the more delusional you are the farther you make it. The saddest part is the most delusional should win. Although despite Romney being a Mormon I think he is more down to earth than this nut.
I dont understand how someone who ties everything wrong with this country back to contraception controversies and not living in a way that is pleasing to (his) god can get a strong second in the GOP race. Are there people that actually want to live in a theocracy?
When I first heard the term GOP I thought it stood for 'God's On Party'. It appears I was correct. Apparently it means 'Grand Old Party'.
