There's an online petition to have a statue of Christopher Hitchens erected in London.
Thought I'd post for those of you who may be interested. :)

Yes, they should. :D
Also, The Asmo is looking for a suitably grand location for his statue when that time comes. The Moon, methink. It is to be reshaped into a huge orbital Asmo.
Added my name ;D

It's good to know that you share The Asmo's vision that the Moon needs to be reshaped slightly. :D
:P

It wouldn't be wise to say 'no', would it? ;D
I'm assuming there's a book with a few easy steps for that sort of situation?

Isn't the moon
already Asmo shaped? I kind of already assumed that the Moon was a giant Asmo monument. What other purpose could it possibly serve? Who would put a gigantic lumpy piece of grey rock up in the sky "just because"? It's definitely already Asmo-like. As a matter of fact, if I squint, I can kind of see the sour lemon expression from here. ;D

Well, yes... The ancient Asmos enslaved the primitive humans and made them shape the Moon into The Asmo sculpture. However, the incompetent fools FORGOT THE EYES!!! >:(
Naturally, they were sacrificed in rivers of blood. And now, no workers... No eyes... No hope. :'(

I think I recall someone shooting a rocket at the moon a few years ago. We need more of those to carve out the eyes. You can't have a proper scowl without the glaring eyes and drawn brow. I'll see who I can pester about more rockets. ;D

Yes! Do. No proper Asmo without eyes, looking sideways at the Earth. >:(
Anyway...
Going back to the original topic, I just signed.
I wish someone would get a petition like this started in The united States. I will gladly sign the petition if I can, even though I don't live there. I think he was a great leader and a great mind. I think having his statue here on campus would be really inspiring
Just noticed the note at the end of the petition....and sent the link to practically everyone I know
The U.S? Don't hold your breath, condon.
I.ll sign. Moving to UK in future anyway. :)
Ya, when I'm being a realist I have very little Hope for the US, but I try to be optimistic and cling to the last ray of hope. Even if we don't get one if we could call media attention to the US we could express who and why they want the memorial, awareness is everything. I don't think it will happen anytime soon but Hope never hurts....or it always hurts? Idk. I have mixed feelings on hope

Nice choice of avatar picture then ;D
I signed the Hitchens petition. Not sure about the moon, sorry, Asmo but we might disturb the cheese.
If Hitch is depicted smoking perhaps a tobacco company will pay for it.
Or not, I'm not sure if the manner of his death would make it a no go.
I think the Hitch statue should have a cigarette, a glass and a thoughtful expression.

You should be more concerned about disturbing the coin operated stove, defender of the cheese.

I would like to see that.

Wouldn't be Hitchens without those. 8)

Absolutely! He did smoke like a steam locomotive and indulged in a glass of strong stuff every now and then. I see no problem in recognising that.
I also look forward to the angry "Think of the CHILDREN!!11!!!!!1!ONE!11" movements' reaction to such a statue if indeed it gets its smoke and its drink.
