I joined the forums some time ago because I saw some discussions that people were having and found some topics interesting, so far I like these forums.
I was raised LDS (Read Mormon for the uninitiated) and after a life-changing event I began reading all about religion, where it came from, what people used to believe in the years pre and post Christianity.
When I found out that Christianity was nothing more than a mash-up of other religions I basically dropped my whole belief structure on the floor and decided to find my own way around in the world.
Since then, I've lived a happy and fulfilling life, my only hope is to one day go to Mars (Failing that, I'd like my ashes spread on Mars ;-)

Hello and welcome! :)
Heello there! Welcome to our little slice of paradise, where clay lumps roam free and pudding wears hats. ;D
Thanks, glad to be here ^_^
Hi mate, if you get to go to Mars take me along.
Hello welcome to the forum. I too would love to step foot on another planet. My number one goal, however, would have to be infinite life by nanomachine. Number two would be infinite life by becoming a highlander. The last of course would be infinite life by pressing up, up, right, down, circle, square at the title screen.
Wow, everybody has big goals except for me. :D I just want to get through high school and college alive.

At your age I think that's a perfectly reasonable goal/expectation. Then you save the world!
So Superfes, do you have any hobbies?
Hobbies?

Ahhh. So your good with computers I'm guessing? I'm good at using a computer, but anything overly technical runs the risk of me accidentally breaking it. Nope, I'll just stick to things I know like animals and art. :D
Welcome!
Welcome Superfes!

I already teabagged you in the English Bugbears thread. What else do I have to do to get a little respect around here?

If respect is your goal, teabagging may not be the means.
I wasnt aware that Christianity was as you say a mish-mosh of other world religions. In what ways ? I thought Christianity was pretty much on its own with God coming down to Mankind whereas the other world religions teach something fundamentally different.

You lost me... but hi to you too...
Christianity stole a lot of ideas and stories from other religions. They stole the flood story from a lot of different religions. You see a world destroyed by flood all over the place in old religions. The new testament was written in Greek as well. Greek mythology had a heaven, the elysian fields, and an underworld. In the underworld people were sent to be punished by Tartarus in a place of the same name. That is quite a coicidence that the new testament is in greek and all of a sudden a new version of hell pops up. I'm sure there are many more examples of Christianity being a mish mash, but those are the two that come to mind. Thank you Xena Warrior princess!!

The only people that don't know that Christianity is made up of older adopted beliefs are Christians, hell, until I started reading all about religions, I had no idea either ;-)
I have noticed that Christians tend not to read the bible, and when they do, they don't even understand what they are reading. That is why they are read the bible by a preacher who is nothing more than an interpreter. Many preachers don't even know what it means themselves. So of course they would have no idea that they are just a mix of old religions. That's another one of the points I bring up to Christians and they have no way to explain it. How are they the only religion that is right when they are just other religions mixed together. I like to think of Christianity as a really long old mixed tape. Something you would give to a girl you really like even though you yourself can't stand it.

Are there other religions that also incorporate a divine Saviour for mankinds sins ?

That's funny because this link you have provided is aimed to debunk the theory that Jesus is a mashup of other religious characters.

The main one people usually refer to is the similarities between Jesus and Horus. Here is a link for you to have a gander at Religious Tolerance - Alleged comparisons between Jesus and Horus' life events (http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_jcpa5b.htm). The website is good in general if you want to get a base understanding of all the different regions that exist.
