Title: Blast hits Nigeria church during Christmas service
Post by: Tank on December 25, 2011, 09:52:54 AM
Blast hits Nigeria church during Christmas service (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-16328940)

QuoteA bomb blast has ripped through a Catholic church near the Nigerian capital, Abuja, causing deaths and injuries, officials say.

The blast tore through St Theresa church in Madalla as worshippers gathered for Christmas services.

An emergency official told reporters the authorities did not have enough ambulances to cope.

Security has been high after violence between Islamist gunmen and soldiers in northern Nigeria...

Followers of the world's second largest institutionalised superstition, Islam, murder the followers of the worlds largest institutionalised religion, Christianity to prove they are peaceful and that there is no coercion to religion.

The sooner the world is free of these superstitions the better.

Oh, not again.

Some bishop was on the telly this morning blathering about how the holy places in Israel will be peaceful when religion really takes hold - or some such rubbish.  They don't want to see that it's only religion that's causing all the misery.

Haven't they had long enough for religion to "really take hold"?  I'd think even the devout should be ashamed to suggest there hasn't been enough time yet.

Can't the homicidal assholes of every denomination just take a few days off, like the rest of the world?!

This evokes a dead Earth post nuclear war image, very peaceful.

Religious people killing religious people?
Somehow this doesn't bother me. I don't know what that says about me as a person.

Probably compassion fatigue, I think you would care, not about two adult male members of opposing armies of god, but for the eight year old girl praying in fear, I think you'd care.

I find it difficult to be sympathetic to peole who kill each other over superstitions. But as Magic Pudding pointed out it's the kids who are damaged by this pysically and mentally. Frankly the adults should know better.

Yes, I do feel sorry for the children. It really isn't their fault if they are getting dragged there.

And then people wonder where the generations of people, for whom an AK-74 (Or any other combination of digits) is a toy, come from...
