Title: Hello
Post by: yepimonfire on December 13, 2011, 10:28:51 PM
Hi, new here, not really sure what i am, i won't say i'm really anything right now. Mostly confused and just looking for answers. I was raised a christian and have considered myself one most of my life. So i guess you could say i am one. Love having intelligent discussions with others about all sorts of things, especially when it comes to religion, science, and philosophy.

Eh.....I am who i am, even if i have yet to totally discover what that really is  ;)

Want to know anything else about me, feel free to ask.

Hello and welcome to HAF, yepimonfire. Unless you're in a hurry, there's no need to worry about getting to 10 posts. Just look around and chip in on some threads in the Laid Back Lounge (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0), like Tank said.

I hope you enjoy your time reading and posting here. (https://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg830.imageshack.us%2Fimg830%2F860%2Fsmilew.gif&hash=8238eab24d16418eb1c8cd60d971239ab1363c74)

Welcome, yepimonfire!

Grew up as a Christian myself.  Your introduction post sounds a lot like my college years.  I do so hope you find your answers, and the peace that comes with them.  Maybe it will be as a happy atheist like some of us.  Maybe it will be as a happy something else!

What are you studying?  I graduated with a Masters in Science, Nursing last year, working as a Nurse Practitioner now.  Took several religion courses during my university days, while I was still searching.

Engineering. Probably won't have to take a class in religion. Don't need to anyways, i've studied enough about it to have practically taken a class on it (outside of christianity even)

Engineering! Very nice.  Mechanical, electrical, chemical?  Have you decided which way you're headed?  If only I'd been better at math, I could have become an engineer!  Ha.  I did a lot of independent study on religion as well.  But I had this amazing professor for "Comparative Religion", which was a required course.  I just had to have him again.  So I took a few more of his classes.  He was Jewish.  Being a Christian at the time, I become sort of fascinated at how Christianity grew from Judaism.  And before that, how Judaism evolved.  And on and on and on backward until I realized that the notion of deity was a human construct, an attempt to find meaning.  It was very liberating.
