Hi all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm female, 39, grew up in Maryland but have been living in Italy with my partner for the last 14 years. My mother tried to raise me Catholic, but I never believed any of it, even when I was really little. I finally rebelled at 13 and refused to be confirmed.
Here in Italy, my partner is Catholic (as are most people here), but I see the Italian Catholicism as much more moderate and related to real life compared to the religious fanatics you see in America. But we have our moments of disagreement, and especially now at Christmas things tend to rear up (slight disagreements, not fights, we generally respect each other's beliefs or lack of).
I love movies, books, writing, computers, animals, hiking (after many years of being reluctantly dragged along...)
I was happy to find this forum and look forward to talking to you.
Yo.

Hi and welcome to HAF, Trammel.
Hello Trammel welcome to the Happy Atheist Forum.
Welcome, Trammell. Out of curiousity, did you go to Italy and find your partner, or the other way around?
How does the pizza there compare to the States?

Oops, my bad.
hi
that's interesting that you find the Italian brand of Catholicism to be more relevant and modern, I guess. Sorry. It's way past my bedtime and I'm kind of fuzzy right now. My ex husband's mother was from Rome and she refused to go to Catholic church here. She found the church higher ups to be very judgmental and preachy.
Hello and welcome!
