So what do ex-(insert name of institutionalised superstition)'s do on the sabath they used to observe?
Well I never was a Christian but I'll start.
One could always nip around the local curch and sit in the front pew and when the vicar starts the sermom start reading The God Delusion.
Heckling the priests is fun.
Me, I usually just play videogames, read, hang around this place and plan all those things that need doing around the house... For the next sunday, of course.
I'm looking at Amazon UK CDs, free delivery and no Vat.
Poonds x 1.29 = A$ price.
My old vinyl rips aren't perfect, only $5.15 to replace some of them.
It's winter sports season. That's pretty much all I do on the weekends.
Watching it on TV that is.

Good. I was beginning to get worried here... :o
Personally, I can't see the entertainment value in pretty much anything winter-ish excepting perhaps biathlon and uh... Curling.
No idea why... Just doesn't appeal to me.
Sleep, pajamas, internet, cuddling with my fellas. Ironically, Sunday is more my "day of rest" now than when I was religious.
I always had a urge to take some chains and padlocks around to our local church and lock the doors from the outside.
Or somehow move all the cars parked outside 100m down the road.

God gets to rest, his sheep have to run around and worship him.

Don't worry, Asmo. I'm still the same unsporty person as before.
And biathlon is my favorite. :)

DO! If get arrested, blame on a gang of gray lumps in hockey masks ;D
Take a loudhailer to the churchyard. Hide behind a gravestone and bellow, "Come forth, ye sinners, for I am the lord your god and ye are doing it all wrong...."

If it comes to that, the army of lumps will bust you out. They have fighter planes, you know. A bit out-dated, but MANY. And Kremlin. They have that too.
Well, this morning I had jambalaya for breakfast with my daughter who prepared it, gave my kitten her meds to help her with what is probably an infection in her bowels, and watched a few episodes from the second season of Charmed via DVD, which I got from my daughter as part of my "25 days of Christmas" pile of presents she bought on Black Friday. :)

Had to (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMMVvS_mmqE).
I went for a run at 6 this morning, got to the end of the road and decided its become too cold, too wet, and too windy to go for a run and still enjoy it so walked back and waited for the shop to open so I could get some cigarettes. Then played zelda, browsed the internet and just chilled out.

Made myself a nice breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes. Now I'm back under the blankets with my mint tea with no real plans for today.
I was all motivated for good surf this afternoon but the wind ruined any chance. White water as far as the eye could see. Gah... :(

So what do ex-(insert name of institutionalised superstition)'s do on the sabath they used to observe?
Weekends are designed to be a time to live life to the fullest, having earned it with a full work week. I usually spend my Sunday mornings making a delicious meal for not only myself but my family—this morning it was thick cut bacon, scrambled eggs with chives, and toasted leftover croissants—followed by spending time together, playing with my dog after breakfast has settled, cleaning up in the kitchen, maybe some reading or watching a video, and some light internet browsing. After lunch, I plan on going Christmas shopping. I found a very old printing of the Velveteen Rabbit, my mother's favorite book, at a book store, and I'm going to get my dad a pair of Red Wing Beckmans, since he's living on Montana now and needs some nice outdoor boots. I might get in a little Minecraft after that, then I'll sweep and rake the front yard so it's leaf-free come Monday, and then I'll watch Dexter.
If I was still religious, I would have had to get up at 6:00 a.m., motivated by guilt that I was, yet again, considering skipping church. I'd have had to get cleaned up, shaved, have a very quick breakfast (eating fast can give one indigestion), and then head out to the early service, where I would undoubtedly be an usher or choir director or something. I'd then have Bible study, then the big service, then lead the Sunday School, then go to the contemporary service where I pretend that Christian rock is cool. Since we're so close to Christmas, there would no doubt be an elders' meeting or church board meeting finalizing plans for the season, which would probably last until 2:00 p.m. By the time I'd get home with my family, I'd be exhausted, so I'd take the rest of the day off and not get anything done. And then I'd feel guilty for resenting church for making me tired the day before the work week gets started again.

Good choice of footwear they last for years (especially as they are goodyear welted) and well worth the money.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to hide on the roof?
Though a hidden ledge below a cliff has a wicked appeal.

On a cold winter day, stay in bed and read, possibly with a cup of hot tea or cocoa at hand. On warmer days, go out and get the grocery shopping done and then tidy the apartment (which I find a very zen activity). If it's been hectic at work, zip in for a few hours of OT. And sometimes drop in at the local UU church, if there's an interesting topic scheduled.

I wonder if anyone else does that. I almost started a thread to ask, then realized this very thread serves that purpose, as evidenced by your post! ;)

Our local UU recently got a new preacher, and I'm seriously considering getting up early on Xmas to go hear her.
Sleep, sleep and sleep. Go to the movies, to a restaurant and more things with my girlfriend.
There are never any good movies on t.v. I usually sleep in, eat a late lunch, then do whatever the day takes me.
As a young man, long after I gave up on Religion, I used to sing in a Church Choir. I like singing the hymms, and I liked all the pretty girls. When girls get that so-called "Holy Spirit" in them, they often become quite friendly - if ya' know what I mean (and especially after the evening services).
My father, an Atheist, soon caught on and said he did the same thing when he was a young man. Dad said it was, "...one of the advantages of being a Choir Boy".

Are you sure you're not a believer, come to lure us back to church?
I have to admit this is the best argument I've heard for it so far.

I used to know a chap who played the organ at church for years while not a believer simply because he liked playing the organ, he never told them he wasn't a believer and stopped going. Which I thought was a daft really as he didn't give them a chance to say it was Okay for him to continue even if he was an atheist. AFAIK they hadn't found a suitable replacement within a year of him leaving.

I'm thinking if they'd found out he was an atheist without his direct admission, they probably would have kept him a while. The church my family belongs to had a homosexual music minister for years. Southern Baptist church, definitely anti-homosexual. Most knew he was gay, but half of them didn't care. I thought the church would split before they finally got the nerve to fire him. But really, he was the best music minister they could have asked for. Excellent music, gorgeous decorations, fun activities. He'd planned a cruise with the elderly ladies in the church. After they fired him, the elderly ladies still went on the cruise with him. I think what did him in was using the church van to 'pick up' Hispanic men as part of the "Hispanic Outreach". Otherwise, I have no doubt he'd still be there. He's "ministering" in another church about 40 miles away now. Maybe they put in his contract to only pick up men in his own vehicle.
I kinda miss him. The few times I've been, it isn't the same without him. His purple suits, his peppy music.
Read the bible, and make a make a list of all the contridictions you encounter, you'll need a lot of paper though. :D
That's already been done more times than an Asmo could count, and Asmos, they can count all the way to plenty.
I usually catch some football on TV. Well, course you'd have to be in the U.S. and it's this time of year.
