Yes it does have an oriental look/feel to it. Apparently the barge already exists and is going to be refitted and remodeled for this celebration.

Personally, even though I'm an American, I like the English Royals. I watched the wedding and like to keep up with them superficially. Can't really explain it - maybe because my family is originally from there.

Also, look at that structure at the bow... Stern... Whatever the nautical types call it. It's all columned with straight roof lines. Looks designed with a ruler... Romans, they designed everything with rulers, no?

Given that your post would lead one to believe that you are not a citizen of the UK, it seems a bit over the top to invest so much emotion (loathing? really?) in a person who is a figurehead, and seems to be basically a dignified elderly woman. She didn't do anything terrible to arrive at her present station, and I find it hard to imagine that anything she's ever done in her life has lead to personal harm to yourself.
