Title: Think of The Children!
Post by: MadBomr101 on December 08, 2011, 12:14:17 AM
I stopped at the supermarket on my way home tonight to buy dinner.  I went to the deli to pick out a roast chicken seasoned with lemon pepper.  That detail is unimportant to the point of the story but I've included it here for those of you who may have thought "I wonder what he decided to get."

As I was going through the various flavors available, I noticed a revolving book rack in the aisle next to the counter where people buy their coldcuts and cheeses.  It was filled with a primarily Xian themed selection one of which was clearly aimed at kids.  It was titled "Jesus Loves Little Children"  On the cover was a colorful drawing of a happy, friendly Jesus playing with happy little children.  Where most people would see a harmless, maybe even inocuous piece of Xian fluff, I saw evil.

Okay, maybe not Darth Vader evil but it was still Xian propaganda conceived and created for the sole purpose of luring small children into the ranks of the faithful starting at a very young age.  This is the reason religion is so prevalent worldwide.  All religions do this.  The indoctrination of people into their ranks beginning from the time a person is still in diapers and still thinks Dora the Explorer is fascinating TV.  It happened to me.  I went to a Roman Catholic school beginning at the age fo five and Jesus was there from day one.  I didn't have a chance.  I was five!  I had no way to mount a counter argument.  The adults told me God and Jesus were real so I believed them and then I was rewarded with chocolate milk.  It took me another eighteen years after that to rid myself of the crapola they'd filled my head with during those years.  Such is the power of chocolate milk to a child.

So, thankfully, I escaped and eventually learned that not only were God and Jesus a fairytale but I can go and have chocolate milk anytime I want without having to believe in anyone's superstitious fiction.  I also couldn't help but speculate how much of an uproar would there be if that rack had also contained a book titled "Jesus Isn't Real and Can't Play with You so Maybe You Should Adopt a Puppy Instead"

That would be priceless.   ;D

Agreed.

See, atheism not only frees minds but provides homes for puppies too.  What's not to love?

Haha. Jesus is the invisible friend in the sky who is also all around you and can see everything you do..... Try telling that to a paranoid skitzo right before they go to the bathroom. I couldn't piss for 4 hours. Evil pricks.

Thank God you became an atheist and can now piss fully and freely without the fear of being watched by some omniscient perv who knows exactly when you're going to pee and can be right there for the show.

Did I just say Thank God?   ???

Do Christians actually believe that they're being watched by their gods? ???

One God. And yes. We really do.

QuoteOne God. And yes. We really do.

One that reads your hearts?

I'm genuinely curious about this, because sometimes I get the impression that theists, who believe that their gods can "see their hearts", certainly don't act like it.

of course we don't act like it. We tend to try to have hope that He doesn't know everything, just as a part of human nature. Is it easy for you to accept it if some random person were to walk up to you and say that they could read your mind and know everything about you, but never actually say what ur thinking?

Yes, and to this day many of his paid servants still carry on the tradition of playing with little children.  ;)

Yeah, but most of them believe that it only really matters that God sees that they "believe". So as long as they have belief in their hearts, they can continue being assholes.

Well, at least you found a way around it because being fearful to answer nature's call is likely to become problematic pretty quickly.

Yes but...a person on the street is just a person on the street, sane people would dismiss any claims like that out of hand. God is supposibly omniscient and not some good illusionist/mentalist ;).

(I'm just going by what Christians themselves claim, which isn't quite in line with how they act...)

You know, today, if some guy proclaimed "Let the little children come to me", he'd probably be branded a pedophile and have his underwear bugged by some government agency.

Why is it different with jesus..? Does the Book(tm) specifically say that he didn't want the kiddies for... that..?

Well, in that time and place, child marriages were probably common. So, Jeebus might have had a young bride  ;)

With the time ad money people spend at church/donating to church, thry could be helping real people in need.
If I gave my paychecks to an alter of Lochness, people would think i'm insane. Why are christians so accepted? I think they mostly have brain tumors. (the super fanatics who sing and cry about jeebus)

Because, of course, they also believe (or at least hope) that god understands and forgives.  And why not?  If there is a god it's just as likely that it does as that it doesn't understand and forgive so go with that silver lining.

I have to say, the day I see any group of people, large or small, routinely walk their talk I'll probably drop dead from the shock.

Sadly, I didn't actually look through the book as I was great with roast chicken at the time, but I will look at it in a few days next time I'm there.

Y'know what's pathetic, if believing in god were the only way to get a cold glass of chocolate milk I could probably still be bribed with it today.    :-[

lol at "Jesus loves little children", like that is supposed convince others that kids need god because "Jesus loves them". Pedophiles also love children ... that doesn't mean children need them.

Every time someone mentions Jesus and Children, I eventually think of this image:

Manipulative images like this are what Xians and the NRA use to make religion look cool and fun to kids.   >:(

This is clearly a fake.  I went to a catholic school as a boy.  Nuns just don't look like this.

Ever.

Oddly enough several of them did carry guns and dogs around.
