This is showing on the Turner Classic Movie (TCM) channel today -- channel 224 at 9:30 p.m. in So. Cal. It's part of TCM's Halloween line up and one of my favorites. I mention it partly for that reason and partly because it's so rarely shown.
It's one of the few movies in which Boris Karloff plays a normal human being, and I think he should have done that more often. Another thing I like so much about it is that it isn't a traditional horror movie, since the horror comes from obviously natural sources that are misunderstood by the superstitious. And if I'm remembering this right (it's been awhile since I saw it last) there's even a discussion in it about the respective merits of science and religion.
