Hello I'm a new member to this forum. I came over from a christian forum after being linked here as a good starting point for discussion with the godless kind. Though I mostly just want to share my views with my like kinded sons of Adam.
Welcome!
Which Christian forum?
Thanks for the welcome. It was Christian Forum.net.

Hi John,

Ah well such is life, eh? ;)

The conduct on this forum may well be different from other forums that you frequent so I politely suggest that you familiarise yourself with the rules (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=1522.0) and with particular reference to the 'No Preaching' clause as you could possibly fall foul of this when you 'share your views'. Please also note the 10 post access restriction that all new members have to observe.
Welcome! As long as you are prepared to substantiate your views with more than verses from various holy books, Asmodean is not likely to get in your face. 8)
Hey. I'm Christian too, but I have a lot of atheist views. The name's Becca.

I can hardly wait for you to get your 10 posts. I'd love to hear your explanation for your comment. I didn't know it was even possible. ;)
Hey, welcome aboard.
You didn't have to come here specifically to have discussions with the godless.
We are all godless, didn't you know ;D. It's just that some people imagine that there is one or two or more gods.
Anyway, you haven't reached ten posts yet, so please tell us more about yourself, favourite sport, food, hobbies, tv programs.
Why are you here? You want to learn what an atheist is? What commonalities we have, differences, what are our hot topics? Or :-\ are you here to evangalise us :o
Just kidding, hope you are keen to have real discussions that to simply argue your point of view

Haha. Most people find it weird. It's actually harder for me to tolerate Christians than anyone else on the face of the planet. A lot of my friends are Atheist, and they're big influences on me. Most of the Christians I know are really self-righteous and look down on anyone who doesn't follow the same set of rules as them. I've actually been told, by a member of my family, that I'm going to hell... Her reasoning was because I dies my hair rainbow colors and I don't listen to gospel. My friend, who's an atheist, almost punched her, because we we're all in a car, (six of us, one her) and she said that we needed to say the sinner's prayer before she drove us anywhere. Then she took us to church. That night we plotted her death, but my mother told us that if we went to jail, she wasn't bailing us out.

I'm not sure I would have had that much self- control. Though I would rather walk than have to deal with that.

I believe in the birth, death and ressurection of JC and that there is a God in heaven. Not much more than that though... In all honesty, most of the Christians I know piss me off to a certain extent. I hate talking religion with them because the first thing they tell you is that you'll understand when you're older. If I was meant to not get it til I'm older, why the hell are you trying to get me to listen to it now? And another thing is deflecting questions with 'tests of faith' responses. I swear, one of these days... *shaking head as evil grin appears* But anywho, until then, I guess I'll just b stuck pretending to get what they mean and all that jazz.

Interesting. I'm also a Christian who has your basic beliefs but doesn't accept most of the other religious traditions of the faith. However, I do refrain from plotting people's deaths.

Yeah... still learning how to control my temper. Dad's a war vet who wanted a boy... see where I get it from?
Asmodean, yes, that would be nice, but don't you think it'd be better to take a spoon, scoop out the eye entirely, then make them eat it?... Or maybe that's just me.

If you don't mind it looking less-than-spontaneous, then yes, it would be better. However, if you mean to plead temporary insanity at the resulting trial, my way is a bit more convenient. ;D

Your attorney. At a trial. While trying to get you off the hook for poking a guy in the eye with a letter opener and at the same time keep you away from a room with padded walls and Napoléon for neighbour. 8)

Well, they've already got plans on shipping me off to one as soon as I hit 18. Why not help them out a bit? ;D And I wouldn't mind having Napoléon as a neighbor. He sounds interesting...
Well, shipping an adult somewhere that adult doesn't necessarilly want to go is rather tricky, actually. They should have thought of that...

Yeah, but if I don't let them, one will attempt to get me arrested for 'spousal abuse' and then she'll testify that I'm a loon. See the predicament I'm in?
Not really, because what you do is let them, leave AMA and never come back. Works like a charm.
Thanks for the tip. Us crazies have to stick together. Beat back the sanity of the corrupted world!

I appreciate that, but there are legal, moral, ethical and practical issues that adults must consider when talking with (pardon the term) minors. Hope you understand.

The legals are covered by the forum ToU. The morals are individual and thus covered by every individual. For me, it means that if something can be said to an adult, it can also be said to a minor. I have the ethics of a cactus, so I'll skip over that, but what practical issues are you refering to..?

Thank you for understanding that. Then again, after the conversation we had in the Noob thread, I guess you can understand that I can handle whatever you happen to say.

Not knowing what the family/social circumstances of a particular minor are can present some practical problems, such as the chance of making a parent irate, who then tracks you down, somehow, and does nasty things. It happens. Dealing with minors can be like traversing a mine-infested field. I continue to think that there are always potential legal problems when minors are involved.

My mom is encouraging this. And she understands that I'm gonna do what I want regardless of what she thinks. We've had that talk already. As for your personal moral dilemma, here's a suggestion, don't post on threads I frequent. Then you don't have to bear the burden of thinking that perhaps you should have said less.
But everyone else, feel free to say what ever your heart desires. I'm here to learn and discover, not to be treated like a 5-year-old who can't make up her own mind. Nor to be thought of as a completely unnecessary censor. Like Asmodean stated earlier, "the moment you consider someone old enough to read the bible or hear the stories derived thereof, you should also consider them old enough for any conversation you would engage an adult in. Just to avoid being a hypocrite..."

This is why I keep my online persona completely anonymous. Even when I use my name online, I use my maiden name, whereas all of my "real life" stuff is in my married name.
So you'd have to be some kind of computer whiz-detective to figure out where/who I am - and even then, I'm in Canada, so most would have even more trouble getting to me :P
haha. No need to be worried about anyone I know coming after you. :D

I would welcome the action. It's been a long time since The Asmo had to come out and fight in any sort of literal sense.

It would be hard to sue me the European over in States and any p2p legal action here would simply be thrown in the trash can by the first judge that read it. However, in the interests of not making trouble for the US based message board and its owner, I try not to break more laws than I feel is my due (Or rather, more than what I think the "this site and its staff are not in any way responsible for individual member's writing and so on and so forth" can handle.
