Italian parents turn to law to evict adult son (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14995588)

QuoteAn Italian couple have sought legal help to persuade their 41-year-old son to fly the nest, Italian media reported.

The Venetian parents, who have not been named, say their son has a job but refuses to leave home and wants his clothes washed and his meals prepared.

They have sought help from lawyers at the consumer association Adico.

Lawyer Andrea Camp said a letter was sent to the son, advising him to leave home in six days or face legal action...

Fortunatly mine all left home without having to resort to legal action  :D

Well that's their choice, to keep what they like. I wanted rid of as much of my eldest daughter's stuff as possible as I wanted to turn her room into a small studio. On the other hand my son spent hours painting Warhamer 40,000 figures and they are little works of art, he grew out of it but I wouldn't sell them, ever.

I was out at 18 and not only took all my stuff, I took some of my Dad's stuff too!  It was old stuff in the garage that he was happy to see go, and I've still got the bookcase he built in high school shop class some 60 years ago.

I haven't lived in my parent's home for 8 years and I still have a ton of stuff there.  :-[

Wow...!  :(   I feel really, really bad for those parents.

Don't get me wrong, in these tough times, housing situations are hard.   I live with my grandma, but I cook, clean and do everything for myself.  I don't expect anyone to care for me. O_o

I have slightly limited sympathy for the parents as they undoubtedly pampered the kid something rotten when he was younger. Our kids didn't get pocket-money as such. They had a weekly 'to do' list on their bedroom doors and on Friday I'd check them and if all the stuff had been done they'd get their 'wages'. The biggest problem I had was not with the kids, it was with my wife who said I was being too hard on them!

The interesting thing was what the kids did with the money, one spent it like water, another wouldn't spend it unless their life depended on it and the other saved it up but bought things they really wanted.

For a brief moment. Fortunately, the feeling passed.  :P

But seriously, we are slowly taking some of the stuff away! Bit by bit. My mother has also taken to just using my stuff herself. The last time I was visiting, I found a nice crystal vase that was given to us as a wedding gift sitting in my parent's living room!
