Title: Hello from Chronos
Post by: Chronos on September 15, 2011, 01:36:12 AM
Since the ATT forum is shutting down, I thought I would sign back up for HAF. I was over here for a while (as JNTB) and then had too many forums to follow. With one less forum to follow I can pick up another.

Whitney, how goes it?

And for all of our sanity I have none from ATT on pre-ban; or at least did my best to do that.

Can't say I disagree with that. He's pulling his dick out and pissing on the forum in the last few minutes.

He's been doing that for a while...probably a big part of why people faded from there.

What's the story with the dates on this page? (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=32.0)
Is this evidence of Chronos's godly powers?

Welcome, but please give us a warning if you're going to mess with time.

Yes, I am quite powerful in that way. I know the past, present and future. I am omnipotent. BUT, I shall let you live a life of free will. You can pray to me for a time change and I will randomly decide if I will honor the request.

I also didn't realize that she started this place way back in June 2006. Time keeps on tickin', tickin', tickin', into the future ...

Hey Chronos.

I'm not new here but I'm the guy who ran ATT, which I am shuttering today, due to a variety of reasons, mainly because it has run its course and total burnout form running it. I'm content now to let Whitney operate a forum.  :)

Not running as HAL here, I see.

Nope.

I gave ATT a good 3 years, and right now after shutting it off I have to say I'm really relaxed and I'm glad I don't have to deal with it anymore. I was so burned out on it I couldn't really drag it out any more, that's not fair to everyone else. I just didn't even feel like responding or even starting new topics. After thinking about changing the name and changing the forum I had to look in the mirror and really ask myself if I wanted to do all that work for what was probably not going to make a difference. I decided I couldn't do it anymore. I would have given it to Kimberly but she didn't want to take over the bills for the thing, so it's just as well it be put to sleep. I do think one guy who emailed me was right, that forums like these are taking a back seat to the social networking sites.

I'm much happier now that I don't have to think about it anymore. On to new adventures ...

Yes, the discussions on the social networks are terse and shallow. Nobody can be required to think for more than 30 seconds.

I use the social networks and still like forums.  It's too hard to carry on a serious conversation on facebook because you have to worry about your real life friend (and especially family) getting offended, there is no one moderating out the trolls and it's hard to hold one on twitter because it is only 140 characters and still has the troll problem.  I also wouldn't trust either of those social networks to be in charge of setting up moderators because then we'd have to deal with bias yet not just be able to jump over to some other social network to hide from the bias since all our real friends use the same social network.
