I found the photography to be excellent in most of these photos. Regardless of the subject matter, they are stunning photos. Well worth the time to look through. Thanks!
Amazing.
Thanks Isok I love the boston big picture articles.
I think these pictures from holi religious festival in India are amazing. Boston big picture - Holi 2010 (http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/03/holi_2010.html)

That looks like so much fun.
Some very nice photos there indeed.
Although someone who likes his personal space would probably not enjoy the praying part overmuch... :-\
The photos are well worth looking at, in themselves. Also, there are some instructive scenes.
The quality of the photography is excellent. I find the subject matter interesting, but the actions portrayed depressing. Millions of people bowing to a non-existant, mythological superstition is a complete waste of time and effort. The sooner people stop doing it because they realise what they are actually doing the better.

That. Exactly that.

Yes totally agree. I really like image #36 though, the entirety of the older women in white and blue are unwavering in their prayer but the young girl in black and red is intrigued by the camera, it says to me that among the singular focus of the horde there is always one that is captured by interest despite the mass of opinion around them.
For once, enjoy the pictures instead of turning it into a debate.
Some of you are really fanatics... ;D
I just noticed that the same website has tons of other remarkable photo's, well worth to plough through.

#18, I used to sleep a whole summer like that in open air back in 2007 in Afghanistan.
Even if you slept like 4 hours a night, your mind and body would completely recover.

I achieve the same results with a disgustingly good mattress. ;D
The pictures are beautiful, thank you :)
You know I'll make a confession. I did alot of learning about Ramadan (and Islam customs in general) through youtube vidoes for Muslim kids. :P

That might be true, but nothing beats falling asleep while gazing at the stars far from the pollution of cities (very traditional environment, no electricity) and waking up at dawn with a few deep inhalations of 'fresh' air ;D

Well, my disgustingly good bed is located far from pollution and an open window provides all the fresh air I need. And since I can not fall asleep on my back, stargazing is out of the question.
^haha, this. My gf's house in maryland has the freshest air, in a warm bed, and I can see stars from the window across the room.

AND no back ache when you wake up.
AND no other aches when you wake up from like roots and twigs poking at you. :D
That! And I can't sleep on my back anyway. So uncomfortable.
hmm we seem to be off topic from the subject at hand.
