C&A...well, I like Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig. And the premise was enough to pique my curiosity. But honestly, it wasn't worth it. Left quite a few unanswered questions too.
RotPotA...Loved every bit of it. Strained the imagination a bit here and there, but overall credible.
I've just watched trailers for both films, and not the movies themselves yet. Though honestly after sitting through the trailer for Cowboys and Aliens I just had three letters stamped in my mind: wtf?!
Planet of the Apes looks cool though.

Consider Cowboys & Aliens as any other "Aliens on Earth" genre. Nothing new. But if you're a Harrison and Craig fan, you might like it better.
I really liked PotA's. It has a plausible plot line of an Alzheimer cure that leads to the rise human-like cognitive powers in the apes. There is a nice scene where a circus orangutan signs with Caesar. Believe me, the way the apes are treated in this movie will have you rooting for the apes.
The only thing I didn't like about this movie was it dealt very long in Caesar's upbringing and conversion, but not so much on the militant side of things. It seemed to happen much to fast from stuck in a cage to overthrowing humanity. However, that is easily overlooked.

PotA looks cool, can't wait for it to start showing in cinemas here.

Well, humanity at the end of the movie had yet to be overthrown, the apes just got free. The virus still has to take effect and kill off most of humanity.
Ouch with the spoiler on Planet of the Apes!
I've already seen both. Similar feelings as Gawen. C&A not so good. PotA was really good. Dealt with relationships a lot. Special effects didn't overwhelm.
They need a better medical advisor though. Too many holes in their "science" to be credible.
But still a much better movie than anything I've seen this summer, and will spawn at least one sequel.
What I loved in PotA were all of the references they packed to the original series of films. Counted at least a dozen and I'm sure I missed several.
I saw PotA last night. The movie, compared to the trailer(s) that intrigued me, was a let down. Having grown up while PotA was a series, but never watching a full episode, I was curious. In this day n age of CGI movies, one would think Pixar would've done a better job making this movie if it had made it. The story, to me, was weak and sporatic, while on a larger scale, it was ok. I don't feel cheated on the movie, but I simply expected a better movie overall including the storyline and especially the graphics. Maybe the sequel will make up for it.
