Hello Everyone,
New to the forum, it is awesome to find/join a forum like this. A tad bit to introduce myself..
I am an early twenties police officer currently living in the mid-west. I have been one going on 2 years now. I enjoy my job thoroughly yet have to almost shamefully admit I am mostly closet atheist. I grew up in the Bay Area in California for the first 21 years of my life in a "left-minded" society, yet moved to the mid-west due to the economy.
Regarding my beliefs, I find it difficult to discuss how I feel with people in my area. A police officer in the "bible belt"? That is pretty much a double dose of "good book" thumping. I have discussed how I felt with a certain few. I find it easier just to accept what people say, swallow it, and move on.
Anyways, from reading posts, this forum seems to be welcoming and possess thoughtful conversation. Glad to join.
Hi GDL
Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to join up. I think you will be our only active law enforcement officer member at this time. Your inputs could very well be very enlightening.
Welcome to HAF.
Regards
Chris
Welcome, GDL. Glad to have you here, and thanks for the introduction. Amazing how complicated our lives are because we don't believe a particular popular myth is real. Add to that a job that is very public and you find yourself practically hiding yourself from everyone. It's a pain in the ass, really.
Hopefully, you have at least one person close to you who understands and who you can share your beliefs with. That's a huge help.
Thanks for performing a difficult and sometimes thankless job, by the way.
Welcome!
Hello and Welcome GDL.
I look forward to some interesting discourse.
