Hello, all! I'm reading through all of these threads and I'm impressed with all of the intelligent things that people here have to say! I'm glad that I found this forum.
Hey, welcome to the forum.
Hi Bella... tell us a little about yourself. I'm Kerri and I'm in Oregon, mom to one son, wife to one husband. :-)
Welcome!
Ciao, Bella! Welcome to the forum.
Well, let's see... No kids or husbands for me yet. :) I'm taking one class this semester before I have completed my BA and I can go into financial planning.... I was raised a Jehovah's Witness. My mom said I couldn't chose my religion until I was 18 if I still wanted to live at home... so I stopped going to the meetings and all that when I turned 18. My sister and brothers followed me out and my dad is Agnostic. My mom is still in the religion but has generally learned not to push it down our throats anymore.

Welcome to the forum, Bella. I think you'll like it around here. We're always happy to have new (hopefully active) members. Pulling the wings off of butterflies or the eating of small children is not allowed on this forum.
Good luck on your career aspirations and such. And hopefully your mom will come around. I find most JW to be a little scary. One guy I worked with was beyond brainwashed. The look in his eyes was frightening.
Btw, please don't be creeped out, but if that's a photo of you, then congrats to your parents.
Don't worry, I left those habits behind a long time ago. :)

You're welcome.
It's funny when religionists say they don't cuss. I've heard words come out of a religionist's mouth that couldn't be any more hateful if they would have used every cuss word in the book. At any rate, one man's expression is another man's epithet.
Btw, if I can bother you for a minute. I see you're from San Diego. I've toyed with the idea of moving there (amongst other places). I've always wanted to live by the ocean. How would you describe it as a place to live?
Well, I know nothing about Indianapolis so I couldn't compare... Personally, I wouldn't live anywhere else. People say it's expensive, but I don't think it's that bad (or maybe I'm just used to it since I was raised here). Traffic sucks and it gets more crowded as time goes on. It's a very diverse city and you can drive just a few miles and find yourself in a completely different type of area. The weather is beautiful, of course. People start complaining if it dips below 60* or above 80*. Compared to other large cities, people are pretty nice here... if superficial. If you wanted to rent, a one-bedroom right by the ocean would generally go around $1-2,000... depending on the area. I live 30 minutes away from the ocean to be by school (and because I like to save my money) and I pay a bit over $800 for a one-bedroom. House prices are supposed to hit bottom in about two years and I'm hoping to buy a home for around $200,000. If you wanted a condo, you may pay upper 300's for one at the moment... but again, it depends on the area.

Yeah, I've kinda gotten the impression that San Diego a diverse, yet integrated culture. I wouldn't have to live next to the ocean, just close enough where I could go to the beach every day and watch the waves come in.
I'm glad to hear about the weather. I'm tired of the extremes in Indiana. I can't stand the cold or the heat anymore. And I'm SO sick of snow and ice.
As far as the money, I've thought about moving to Hawaii, so I'm prepared for the high cost of living-- now I only have to find the financial wherewithal to make such a move.

And we have superficial people here, and lots of crime as well.
How's the crime and the earthquake dealy out there?
Kudos for responding, Bella.
Dude, if you could afford to move to Hawaii, come to SD! I remember vacationing in Hawaii and wondering why I spent so much money when I could have had almost the same experiance (albeit with uglier and colder water and no tropical jungles) here. It's definately cheaper that Hawaii and you're not stuck on an island so you have your deserts and mountains and whathaveyou in a relatively short amount of time. :)

I can't afford to move anywhere right now. I'm paying off school loans and a car. I hope to move before I hit 50.
Yeah, I'm sure San Diego doesn't have everything that Hawaii does, but I bet it doesn't have a bunch of tourists running around. And I don't care about the cold water, I just want to look at it, not swim in it. But of course if it's polluted or something, that's different.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, Bella. I'm mucho appreciative.

Sorry...that struck me as funny. Everyone from Phoenix vacations in SD, so yeah...tourists.
I lived on Oahu for 3 years, and the tourist problem is not really a problem if you stay out of downtown Honolulu/Waikiki.

I think you have us confused with somewhere else.
Quote from: "Bella"I live alone with a furry friend
I hope you mean a pet, and not the other kind of "furry". That would be interesting... and funny.
Welcome to our forum Bella!
Hope you enjoy !!
