QuoteAn Austrian "Pastafarian" has been issued with a driving licence that shows him wearing a colander on his head after he finally won the right to wear the kitchen implement in the photo on the grounds of religious freedom.
In a post on his blog, Niko Alm said he received his licence yesterday after a psychologist passed him fit to drive after three years of trying.
"Today I was able to get my new driving license, and in it you can clearly see that I'm wearing a colander on my head to demonstrate my allegiance to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster," Mr Alm wrote, describing himself as an entrepreneur and activist against church privileges.
I'm getting a colander to wear on holy days.
That made me laugh! ;D
So pudding, is a new avatar in th offing?

I think so, not every Friday but I think I'll declare myself a holiday sometime soon.
QuoteAround the time of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, Pastafarians celebrate a vaguely defined holiday named "Holiday". Holiday does not take place on "a specific date so much as it is the Holiday season, itself". Because Pastafarians "reject dogma and formalism", there are no specific requirements for Holiday. Pastafarians are instructed to celebrate Holiday however they please.
The BBC story says;
QuoteMr Alm's pastafarian-style application for a driving licence was a response to the Austrian recognition of confessional headgear in official photographs
which would be in line with Bobby's original purpose.
As a devout Pastafarian I am of course delighted by Alm's protest, but annoyed that the Venganza forum was unusable yesterday afternoon and evening because the Beeb included a direct link to it.

Annoyance now moderated because the forum now has a mass of new converts eager to post. Time will tell if they last.
This story just makes me smile :D What a devoted follower.
That's dumb. I've often been of the school of thought that persecuting religion is just... dumb. And wasting three years to get a colander on your head? Three years wasted.
Sadly, I do not believe in the flying spaghetti monster. I am a flying spaghetti monster atheist.

I feel bad for the pastafarian, because after some measure of celebration of victory, a huge part of his identity has now been taken away from him. Think of it this way:
I'm a Chicago Cubs baseball fan. They haven't won the World Series since 1908. The losing is part of my identity. People ridicule me and feel pity for me. My team's futility is a conversation starter. It's a burden I have carried every since I started following baseball, and it gets heavier every year. Now what if the Cubs won the World Series next year? (It's going to happen!)
Now I'm no longer a lovable loser. I no longer have that conversation starter. There would be 104 years of frustration that would be unleashed around the country in one night of massive partying, but afterward, Cubs fans would have to learn to live with a new identity. The loyal lovable loser label is even a part of pop culture, with references in movies and television. It's something that actually brings Cubs fans together. We have solidarity. I feel that we would lose a very large part of that if we were suddenly winners. We'd suddenly be content, and would have no idea how to handle that. It would feel sort of empty.
Part of the pastafarian's identity has been that he's the guy who has been fighting the government for equal rights. This has been his claim to fame -- his calling card. Now that the government has granted equal rights, he will have to replace this fight with another one, or I think he'll likely feel a bit empty.
Magic, do you have a colander hat?

So much wisdom and truth. <3 <3
If that's the case, then don't fight for him.
@completely missed the point.
