QuoteA woman returned to her Cumbrian home to find a near perfect imprint of an owl on her window.

The bird had apparently crashed into the window of Sally Arnold's Kendal home, leaving the bizarre image - complete with eyes, beak and feathers.

Experts said the silhouette was left by the bird's "powder down" - a substance protecting growing feathers...

Ooops! Imagine if you had been in the room if that happened, you'd jump right out of your skin!

Growing up we had a wall of big windows facing our back yard. There was several times that birds would crash in to them and then flop around on the deck until they died. One time was an owl, which boomed through the whole house. It was surprising to me that the glass didn't break- must've been tempered.

Anyway, word has it that the birds would eat the juniper berries, and essentially would become drunk. No idea if that's true, that's just what the locals said.

If I came home and found that image printed on my window I would find it hilarious.

In my hometown, which has a particular love for mirrored blue windowed tall buildings, birds rountinely clash into them, confusing them to a reflection of the sky.

Sounds a bit odd that they can't make out a mirrored blue window from just blue air, but it happens quite frequently.

Kookaburras do it around here.
I don't know if they are attempting to fly into the room and don't see the barrier or are attempting to fly into the reflection.
I think the reflection is more likely.
They don't die but they don't laugh about it either.
Perhaps a large protruding beak absorbs some shock.
The dog hasn't taken advantage of their temporary stupor as yet, but I know she bears a grudge for the theft of precious chicken necks.

And somewhere, right now, little Harry Potter is crying, "Hedwig? Hedwig?! Hedwig???!!!"

But seriously, that imprint is so hilarious. It really is perfect.
