Title: Holes in Fossil Bones Reveal Dinosaur Activity

Holes in Fossil Bones Reveal Dinosaur Activity (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/07/110708124348.htm)

QuoteScienceDaily (July 8, 2011) — New research from the University of Adelaide has added to the debate about whether dinosaurs were cold-blooded and sluggish or warm-blooded and active.

Professor Roger Seymour from the University's School of Earth & Environmental Sciences has applied the latest theories of human and animal anatomy and physiology to provide insight into the lives of dinosaurs. The results will be published this month in Proceedings B, the Proceedings of the Royal Society B (Biological Sciences)...

..."The dinosaurs appeared to be even more active than the mammals. We certainly didn't expect to see that. These results provide additional weight to theories that dinosaurs were warm-blooded and highly active creatures, rather than cold-blooded and sluggish."

Looks like dino's were very active, even more then mammals, which now raises interesting questions about their ability to maintain their body temperature during cool periods. It is also noteworthy that many warm blooded creatures have insulation in the form of fur, fat or feathers (notable exceptions being humans, Great White sharks and some large active fish like tuna). So did dino's have insulation and if so what type?

How cold water sharks get by (http://www.elasmo-research.org/education/topics/p_warm_body_1.htm) - by eating a lot and clever "design."  ;)

Penguins use fat feathers and cooperation to winter in the Antarctic.

Perhaps one day our lizard over lords will reveal themselves and explain how they did it.

Dinosaurs? But that would require that they are older then 10,000 years. The whaaaaaaat. I dont understand. Didn't Jesus just make big lizards? I mean if the world is older then 10,000 years then why do we only have tracks of 10,000 years. *bangs head with every word* It doesnt make sense.

Btw this entire post is a joke so uh, hope you laugh

I'd have thought that Dinos would have been sluggish when they were cold, and active when they were warm, like modern reptiles.

That was one of the traditional views. However there has been considerable debate that over this. The research sited does appear to finally put the 'slow lizard' hypothasis firmly into the disproved category.
