Hello,
I have been interested in this topic and these types of discussions since I discovered the writings and internet videos of Christopher Hitchens. Reading and listening to Hitchens really opened my eyes.
Since then I have read, watched and listened to everything I could get my hands on.
I want to thank the Creator of this site, as well as all those who have been here a while and had such great discussions. It will take me a while to really go through and read everything, but I'm really looking forward to it.
Thanks for having me!
Hello and welcome to HAF, supersoldier. I admire Hitchens' thinking on most topics, but his stubborn defense of the invasion of Iraq seems wrongheaded to me. I do enjoy listening to him speak though. I hope he beats the odds.
I spent most of last summer in Virginia. It seemed like a nice place, and I liked it, but the heat was a bit tiresome.
I hope you enjoy your time reading and posting here. (https://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg830.imageshack.us%2Fimg830%2F860%2Fsmilew.gif&hash=8238eab24d16418eb1c8cd60d971239ab1363c74)
Hallo Super.
I don't know the work of Christopher Hitchens. I'm more of a Dawkins fan myself.
Willow.
Hi SS
Not a huge fan of CH, but a lot of people do like him. My favourite atheist philosopher is AC Greyling. But the 'Hitch' is fun in small doses :D
Welcome to HAF
Regards
Chris

Warmest welcome to the forum. I look forward to your posts.
Hello and welcome to HAF, supersoldier.
As for my favourite atheist philosopher, it's got to be Sam Harris.

I agree; Sam Harris is one of those thoughtful and carefully articulate people who make it easy to separate obfuscating creationist arguments from science and rational thought.

I agree with you about Hitchens' support of the Iraq invasion, and I was disappointed to see him do what appeared to be some mental gymnastics in his favor about it. Nonetheless, I appreciate his wit and reasoned arguments against self-serving religious wish-thinking.

Shouldn't you be in Kentucky?
Greetings Screaming Eagle,
I also was active at Ft. Campbell in the late 80's. Did some time in Kawait. I did enjoy my military experience but I'm happy to be free of it.
Hello and welcome, Supersoldier! I will have to check out the author you mentioned above. Always willing to learn.
