No one has told you go away, putting a link to a book tends to make people sceptical about why you are here. We do have some theist allies here, and some entertaining others as well, (hello Byron). The line "I don't tolerate supernatural nonsense of any kind" could be interpreted as well, intolerant. If you have a no supernatural nonsense policy for yourself, that seems sensible.

I truly wish to understand the atheists ability to "respect" theist ideology. How is this constructive? Is it because the atheists here are confident that if you can not beat them, live amongst them in harmony? I sincerely want to understand. What prompted the inception of this site? What atheist doesn't have a problem with the perpetuation of superstition? More importantly... WHY? And if one uses the claim, "well, you just never know..." I would assert that that person was not atheistic.. That sounds like agnostic.

Very nice to meet you as well. I wasn't personally offended, either myself or on behalf of anyone else, by your initial post. I responded solely to your suggestion that this site merely fosters accomodationism. That has simply not been my experience here, and certainly not from Tank. I have seen Tank take apart a number of arrogant Theists who came here to preach and ridicule. I can't speak for Tank, so I'm not certain what specifically put him off about your OP.
In any case, my experience here has been one of robust debate over matters both between athiests and theists and among atheists themselves, on every subject under the sun. The only punches pulled are personal attacks. But if anyone makes an unfounded or poorly thought out remark, they are quickly taken to task.

I think you are confusing my attitude to my fellow human beings and the world views they hold. I did not say that we should respect the institutionalised superstitions (religions) that hold sway over vast swathes of humanity. What I do say is that here, on this forum, we have a particular way of behaving. If you do not feel like making the effort to find out about that then you may find it difficult to express yourself in a way that suits this forum, that is all. What you do about what I have said is entirely up to you, but I won't be losing any sleep over it one way on the other.
Nor shall I. Be that as it may, one can't let someone try to assert authority or wisdom where it is not welcome. So, please lose no sleep, as well as fight your own battles. In due time, you may find that someone such as myself will have little problem stating my case.
In short - mind your own posts and until I say your arguments for atheism are wrong, don't assume to know what mine will be.

I don't see anything wrong with someone mentioning that you may or may not fit in somewhere, it shouldn't change the actual chances that you may or may not be able to fit in somewhere. And fuck 'em if you don't fit in somewhere, I don't fit in almost everywhere I go, but I'm not going to refrain from going anywhere that I want to go just because I don't fit in.
From my perspective you're making a big deal about something that is very minor.
So try the place out, if you like it then stay, if you don't then go. I'm not a good judge of what is civil so I don't much have the ability to tell whether you are or aren't being civil, all I can say is that I've avoided bing called uncivil by only attacking what is said and making no assumptions about the person saying it. Even that has sometimes gotten me some unofficial warnings.

Screenwriter805, I've read all of your posts in this introduction. While I will say, "Welcome to the forum.", I'll also ask that you first read the forum rules. Some members wondered if you were "for real" or otherwise thought you might be a spammer because your first post had a link to books you have written. We get lots of spammers who do just that. It's also against the forum rules.
Tank tried to point that out to you. He was not rude, although your response was.

This forum has people from every part of the world, every age range, gender, transgender, race, culture, and pretty much any other diversity you can think of and we welcome all of them. What we don't tolerate is lack of civility.
If you have questions, feel free to ask. I would suggest not starting off on the wrong foot by attempting to insult other forum members who were trying to either determine your sincerity or by trying to help you understand the forum rules.

Considering me rude is your prerogative as is mine to consider your questioning of anyone's sincerity to be bigoted. Your suggestion is duly noted, and thusly disregarded. I would suggest being more concerned with combating the suppression of free thought rather than policing compulsory pleasantries. As atheists there are far more important issues to combat with "civility".

I wouldn't imagine you would be banned. I'm still new myself, so I'm not the best person to say. The reason I chose this forum is because of it's respectful nature. If I wanted to discuss things with intolerant socialists, I would still be a member of Dawkin's forum. Although I'm new, I don't think it's fair to say this is "Christian-esque."
I still don't know what to make of you. Hopefully you continue to post so I can better figure you out.
You also have to keep in mind that anyone who self promotes in their first post will be viewed with a skeptical eye. From atheists you should understand we may be skeptical in the beginning.

What do you mean by intolerance of the supernatural? Does this mean that if you meet a ghost you will preceed to kick its ass?
Maybe you mean intelerance of other's belief in the supernatural? How does this intolerance manifest itself? Do you make it your mission to teach them that they are wrong?
Would you consider yourself a strong Atheist (belief that there is definately no god). Would you consider yourself to be an anti theist?
You seem to have a strong standpoint, I feel I would like to get to understand you a bit better.

You've been given the information you need to remain here. Whether or not you stay is up to how you choose to deal with it and respond. I have no feeling on it one way or the other. Interesting that you feel equipped to make the assessment of the site having a christian-esque feel to it after so short a time. Whatever that means. Screenwriter...I'll third (or maybe it is fourth of fifth now) that you read the forum rules. Everyone has to comply with them, even I get nudged in the right direction if I break one on occasion (and I own the forum).
It's not a request, just read them...very simple.

AS A MEMBER OF THE ATHEIST MOVEMENT, I AM PROUD TO SPEAK UP AND WILL NOT LET THE CLOUD OF ARBITRARY RESPECT DILUTE PROGRESS. DISLIKE IT ALL YOU WISH, BUT AN ATHEIST THAT CHAMPIONS ATHEISM AND IS LOOKED DOWN ON IT IN AN ATHEIST FORUM MAKES NO SENSE TO ME.
WHEN WE STOP LOOKING AT IT FROM A DEBATE POINT OF VIEW AND ACCEPT THAT SCIENCE IS ABOVE RELIGION, WE WILL BE MUCH BETTER OFF.
ANY ATHEIST WHO FINDS THIS INTOLERANT SHOULD LOOK AT THE RETARDATION OF PROGRESS FORCED UPON HUMANITY BY ECCLESIASTICS AND THEN TRULY FIND THE MALIGNED CONVICTION TO SAY I AM THE ONE WHO'S INTOLERANT.
