Hi everyone! My name is Rose and i'm excited to be here. I come from a very religious family, being Irish, and it is hard not to feel outcasted. I've never believed in God, and I knew I was a lesbian by the time I was 12. Both my parents are okay with it, but my dad still likes to quote the bible "love thy sinner, not thy sin" etc. it feels as if he's mocking me. I was raped when I was 14yrs old and just recently told my dad.
He seemed pretty helpful, until I asked him why it even happens and how he could believe in a God that is ok with people being raped. He told me God will bring justice, but whatever. Homophobia, rape, murder has shaped my views that there just is NO GOD. I use logic and science to think!
I apologize for my rant once again.
Thank you for viewing the world openly. I wish we could make it a better place.

Hi Rose
Who old are you now?
Welcome to HAF
Regards
Chris
I am very sorry to hear of your trauma. But welcome to HAF!
Thank you very much for the warm welcome. I am 25 years old now, and have been in a wonderful relationship for three years.
I appreciate forums like this existing, where I am not judged based on my nonbelief or sexual orientation.
Welcome!

The only thing you will be judged on here is what you type, and even that will be pretty lenient 8)
Wish you well Rosr
Rose
I think I should expand a little on why I asked your age. I was concerned that you were younger than you are. I was worried that you were so close to the traumatic events that you were possibly searching for something beyond that which a forum can offer. I have seen that happen before. Good to see you are in a relationship and are happier now.
Chris
Welcome to the forum, Rose!
No one said welcome Sweetdeath which sound's kind of familiar and interesting.
Welcome Sweetdeath.

Aw, yes! That sounds even nicer typed by someone el. Thanks :D
No problem, Tank/Chris. I see you're a senior member and want to respect this forum and its protocols.
I've been a non believer since I was a teenager, but up until 5 or so years ago, I didn't know thete was a proper term. Stll annoying the looks people give yoy when you tell them you don't believe a big, invisible guy in the sky is all knowing or exists.
I then calmly ask them if they still believed in Santa.

Hi Rose! Welcome! :)
Thanks Cecilie. I like you and Tank a lot so far
I'm usually terrible at first impressions, so that's great!
Anyone who likes The Runaways and Bowie is a cool person! XD
Oh hey, you're my 50th post :D
Congrats on that. :D
Hello Rose. Welcome to HAF.
Hello sweetdeath and welcome,
It feels like a breath of fresh air when you can hang with like minded people.
Oh, I agree, leedan. Hope you reach 50 soon, so you can explore more of the site. <3
In my case I started hanging around forums so I could interact with theists! In the last 5 years I have had my fill of them. I have met polite ones, rude ones, stupid and intelligent ones. But not a single one of them has written a single thing to make me change my world view, in fact quite the opposite. The stunning twisting of 'logic', the blind assertions of 'faith' and the denial of reality have all illustrated to me that theism is an outdated world view that may have had value in the past but does more harm than good now.
@Tank: You're so awesome :D
To me, personally, religion is like marriage: outdated. I think that the definition of marriage has changed dramatically in the last century.
People should marry for love now, not because of pregancy (well, thats fine too, as long as you do love eachother.)
Back in the day, women were married off for polictical reasons (to save a king's country and whatnot.)
I never believed in the "sanctity" of it, especially with VEGAS 1hour to go marriage. I think two humans should do it, whatever. It shouldn't affect their or taxes or even make someone a citizen. Marriage should be simple, personal, and about love between two human beings- no matter the sexual orientation.
Sorry about that mini rant.
As for religion, people can still practice it, but it shouldn't make its way into MY PERSONAL LIFE OR POLITICS. Ugh.
Hi Sweetdeath,
I'm still trying to get my 50. Can you help?
Sure, leedan. What do you want to talk about? :D

Well we could try 4x4 Toyotas, I'm sure that would get a response! :P
I would like to say hooray for everyday! :D

Yotas are great but I prefer the jeep platform. There's plenty of em, parts are cheap, and always wheedles a tinkering out of me.
Never heard he term 'Yotas' before. Over here the purist 4x4 mob are dedicated to Land Rovers or various ages and types.

I'd abandon that fractional method of measuring age if I was you, that way lays deep depression.
A child on their first birthday might be one twenty fifth of a parent's age.
Twenty five years later they are half their age (ye, OK 52%).

Some go further and eliminate more letters until there's just a "YO" in the back. Land Rover is nice but expensive here. Maybe a stripped down model that ya don't mind scratching instead of these luxury road yachts I keep seeing.

Definitely the stripped down ali body variants for mud plugging. The Rang Rovers are just 4x4 gin palaces and what are called 'Chelsea Tractors'. People who by a big 4x4 for status in towns and will never get them near any mud, ever!
Would love a beat run in that classic you have pictured as your avatar. Its purpose specific and used only as intended. I've had some close relationships with military vehicles and these attributes seem to be a turn on for me.
@Magic pudding: Argh, yeah. Now a days, children are somtimes only 15 younger than parents. So disturbing.
I mean, this isn't the dark ages. We do live past 35.

A state of the art marvel of military tech when first introduced to the battlefield. Imagine the horror of a confrontation upon seeing it for the first time. My little jeep is a puppy in comparison.

LOL, I love that!
Hi, I'm sorry for what happened to you, that seems to happen to a lot of people who become homosexuals as well as some sort of relationship with their parents...I personally feel like being homosexual is a psychological thing, open to argument from the 5 people on this board...
Thanks bicycle, but this already happened after I knew I was a lesbian.
Eing gay isn't a choice. You either are or you are not. :<
well then why do some gay people change to straight?
I can't speak for everyone obviously, but I believe a lot if gay people pretend to be heterosexual because of many reasons: they are scared, religions and family pressure.
And to thosr who "change" -- they are either lying to themselves or were never gay to begin with.
So people can either "come out of the closet" or decide to not come out of the closet. Is it really a fine line like that? what about bisexuals?
Being "in the closet" doesn't make you not gay.
I love women like crazy, but I don't feel the need to stale a rainbow flag to my ass and dance. I want to educate people to take away the stigma that "gay people are this and that."
We are all human beings who want love, happiness. Some want children. Some want marriage.
I think we all just want equality and fairness.
Bisexuals are fine. I think it is cool to have fair game with noth genders. I think men can be cool mates, but I just can't find them sexuality attractive at all.
Both genders^
Damn you, android keyboard.
I agree, my point is just that you make it seem like all gay people are either in the closet or not in the closet, but I know of men who have become attracted to men, gotten a sex change, and then became attracted to women, only to want to be men again. I don't see why someone would have to go through all that trouble just to be happy, unless they had some issues...
I really don't want to feel offended. I hope you didn't just suggest that people "become" gay, because they have mental issues.
You are twisting my words. I am only saying that being gay is not a choice.
You can't just wake up and decide to be gay. You just discover it, as part of your entire self; who you are.
I don't mean to make you feel disrespected. Personally, I have mental issues myself, don't we all?
Yes ;; we all go through crazy, good, and bad experiences. That's what makes us human.
:D
Totally, I just want to grow which is kinda why I joined this board.
