I have to preface this by saying I am a Christian. I do not know why I felt the need to say that, but here is the joke now:
An atheist is walking on a sidewalk. As he comes to a corner of the sidewalk, he overhears a man bragging about his ideal afterlife.
Theist: I pity all of you unbelievers! You will miss out on the most extraordinary experience ever! There will be monuments of infinite greatness, bounties of delicacies beyond your palpable palate, Lions, and Tigers, and Bears! Oh for the rivers of gold, clouds of silver, and raindrops of wine! Never will one suffer the agony of indulgence, but will engorge eternal on the aura of ecstasy. Thrown off these ragged raiments shall be, and dawned, robes threaded of Angel hair! Woe to all of you who will not witness it!
Atheist: Is that so?
Theist (with look of consternation): Hmmmm, so you think your afterlife is better?
Atheist: You won't be disappointed.

I think it would have certainly distracted the audience from listening to the subtle reply.
