With all the buzz about the endtimes I feel that, in the interest of preparedness, we should think about ways to thwart or at least minimize the damage of the apocalypse.
From what I understand the apocalypse begins when Gabriel blows his horn, and then the dead rise.
(Zombies are easy enough to deal with, destroy the brain and don't get bit)
The Horsemen are next. They bring Conquest, Famine, War, and Death. They may be tricky, but anything that bleeds can be killed. Fighter jets ccould probably take them down, but would that stop the apocalypse?
From wikipedia:
Hail and fire destroy a third of the trees and grass. (8:6-7)
A third of the oceans are destroyed. (8:8-9)
A third of the rivers and springs are poisoned. (8:10-11)
A third of the sky is darkened. (8:12-13)
A plague of "locusts" terrorize the Earth for five months. (9:1-12)
An army of 200 million kills a third of Earth's population. (9:13-21)
My theory is that in order to stop the apocalypse you'd need to kill Jesus and the devil. Any ideas on how that could be accomplished?

I know someone who could help, he's given it some thought.

No killing death though, I'm fond of him.
My worry about the rapture is that there might be a percentage of Christians stockpilling weapons in their basements. Getting themselves prepared for the rapture.
Let's say that an influencial enough guy comes along and convinces them that he is JC and now is the time to start killing the non Christians. This could be serious trouble for the rest of us who are simply wanting to get on with our lives.
Mass hysteria is real and it can easily affect people that would not ordinarily be violent. I have seen it first hand, i wasn't part of it but many people around me were.
If this group were big enough and were well equipt then the authorities may struggle to control it. I don't know if this is likely to happen, are Christians preparing themselves for a bloody war? In the worst case scenario we would be forced to try and find the guy that they are convinced is JC and through him, put an end to it. With his death they would hopefully realise that he was not the second coming and then they would halt with regards to trying to kill all the non Christians. It's a ridiculous scenario but I am seeing some worrying signs with some Christians almost seeming gleeful with joy on the occurance of a natural disaster like the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
I feel I am pretty safe in my country but people in Southern States of America may get into a spot of trouble.

Sadly there are those out there who are radical enough to believe that a guy who is asking them to kill people is really Jesus. But I dont think you'd have to worry about said group being very large. We arent idiots.
And, ah, If you guys dont beleive in God, then why would you have to worry about what it says in a book, that is made up of His word?

because some crazy people actually take the bible literally and use it to cause harm. You know...like the Phelps family (god hates fags nut jobs).
Just to note, the OP is pagan not atheist.

I don't believe in fairies, but I still keep iron weapons just in case... But then again I'm a weirdo.
I've been giving it some thought, and does Jesus count as a ghost or a zombie? They're very different in terms of how to kill.
Also, does the devil count as a demon or an angel?

Because some people do believe the bible to be true and if they had their way this forum would be illegal. You behave in some ways because you believe the bible is true. It is very worrying to see people behaving in irrational ways because they believe a work of fiction. If you consider this observation offensive consider your feelings about Islam and Muslims.

Because of the nature of this forum, I gather we run into a lot that might feel this way, but I would certainly lay down a bet and say there are just as many, if not more, Christians that support your right to think different...including this one. They're (We're) just not be as loud as the fundies. :)

Fortunately what you say is true. However it's not people like you that worry me.

This is my opinion as well.
The siren of power seems to play its tune and the small minority of prejudice bigots get drawn into its bosom. Luckily most countries have progressed and have systems that help reject these individuals before they can do any major harm, however religions throughout history have a track-record of nurturing these people into power.
On a personal note (kind of off topic) hopefully the liberal democrats can help evict the spiritual lords from the house of commons later this month, and get rid of the archaic remnants out of the British political system that have no democratic right to be there.

By definition he's a Zombie.

Why should "we"? How am I supposed to revel in destruction while laughing maniacally if you disturb them carefully concocted Armageddon plans?
There will be more overall destruction if the Earth is saved, we could continue spreading war and misery across the universe!
You have to look at the bigger picture, sure it would be fun to spend all your cash on one big party, but think of all the fun you'll miss out on because you're broke.
The Joker has has passed up pleanty of occasions in which he could kill Batman, because he understood that it's more fun to let him live.
I always wondered why god would send a plague of locusts. I mean, locusts? Come on! ::)

...Only as big as the scope of whatever is left of my life. And if I can't get some decent misery while I'm still here, then what's the point? No point in saving the end of days for future generations, I say. >:(

Have you
seen locusts? They're freaking piranhas of the sky! They strip the land barren of the foundations of our society, like corn and wheat!

Well, yes... but isn't the end resault of Armageddon supposed to be heaven on Earth, peace and love, and the whole "Lion lying down with the lamb" type stuff?

...That is, until Asmodean and his Crew get their fingers on it and use the god-forbidden science to bring about a war or three...
'sides, there are so few lions left that I'm pretty sure they are gonna go extinct during the armageddon... If not before.

Well, we could cause mass extinctions and destruction on the Earth if we wanted to with a few clicks of buttons. The best god can come up with is locusts? :P

I think we assemble our own team to fight the horeseman now who would you have on your team I think for me
Tom Cruiz or Mel Gibson, they are both crazie enough to probably ride on the back of a nuke into the horesman encampment.
Samule L. Jackson because, why the F not. It's Samuel L. effing Jackson.
Tony Jaa, because he would monk the shit out of the ground forces with his elephant.
And Abe Lincoln, cause he will imansipate the shit out of you.
