The school is constantly shoving Christianity down our throats and its actually pretty creepy, its almost like brainwashing, twice a week we have assemblies about 'being a good christian' and then twice/three times a week we have Religious Studies (which is just Christian studies) and we always have communion and religious events such as Christianty Day, which was awful. The slogan for the school is Deo Duce or in English: Led By God, and when they built the school they felt it necessary to spend tax payers money on a chapel (which nobody uses) when they have a church down the road. Just think its quite funny the amount of effort they need to go to, to try convince us that Christianity is true, its pathetic.
P.S
The cross glows are night WTF (can be seen for miles)
Also i was too young to decide what to believe and when I joined and I lived right near it, plus I didn't think they would be this pushy about there faith, its awful.
Hi Stuart
Welcome to HAF, I hope your stay is long and you get a bit of relief from the stress you are evidently going through.
Regards
Chris
Welcome!
Well, soon you'll get out of there at least...

And increasingly desperate, perhaps, in the face of reality. Good luck in keeping free from it!
You know, that cross...
With something like that, I could actually make my jesus-gay-porn-idea-thing into a movie :D
...Glows in the dark, you say..? Not pink or purple by chance? :P

If not you could always change it in post-production.
On another note, welcome to the forum StuartH. That picture is some serious gaudy worship.
Hey, thanks everyone for the welcoming posts. :-D
School tomorrow... get to see the new sign saying 'Church of England Academy' - Exciting stuff @_@

England..? Why England? Are they not moving more and more in the same direction as Sweden when it comes to churches and religion and spending one's sundays on something more productive, like speculating over wedding dresses?

But yet they still have an official Church of England, and the Queen, who is the official Head of State, is also the official head of the Church of England. They just had the biggest wedding in decades in a church with a pastor and all of that, with crowds of cheering fans outside the church. Just because more than half of England is non-religious doesn't mean religion doesn't have a hold there. They even allow some Muslim communities to practice in Sharia law with their own Muslim residents.
Oh yeah... welcome StuartH
Hello Stuart.
Welcome to HAF.
Hello Stuart, welcome.
Also, I know the feeling. I was in a similar situation in my school and now, at university, I've got the flipping Christian Union to deal with! They hang around on campus handing out leaflets and telling people how hell-bound they are. There's always that annoying passive-aggressive mixture of sickly-sweet good manners and absolute condemnation:
"Hello there, sir, oh good, kind sir; if you're not too busy would you like to come and have tea with us at one of our weekend get-togethers?"
"No, thank you."
"Oh. Oh dear. Well, you must know already, that YOU'RE GOING TO BURN IN HELL and everything right?"
"Go away. Shoo."
"Heavens, there's no need to be so rude!" :o
I've been going to a Christian school for eleven years now, so close to ending, but I'm just about to explode. The only reason why I still continue to go is that it's too late to back out now, and someone had paid for my tuition anonymously. I've been cruising through various sites I've registered to as an atheist, and the school has a horrendous laptop program which they claim to use to watch all of what we do, and if they know about my involvement in this forum, I've got 'em cornered for illegal privacy invasion at home. ;) They also have an over-the-top censorship program, which used to be iPrism, but so many students spoke at the wrong time, I guess and they found out, so they've switched to LightSpeed, which a select dipstick group (sadly who I used to call friends) have gotten past, and the lead dipstick has actually talked aloud about it with teachers in the room. ::) I managed to get out of Confirmation, thank not god, and they mentioned specifically me not being confirmed in an e-mail, among other unchristianly things they've done...mostly to me, but holy nothing this is a giant wall of text, so I'll stop this before I rant on further, unless anyone gives a Frank-n-Furter.
Wow that sounds absolutely horrible :o How long you got left there?
Good luck surviving that hell hole ;)
Welcome!
And I know what its like having to suffer through a school that isnt of your own feelings and beleifs. Oh what I would give for my school to have a Christian studys class and a chapel! I once got in a fight with a kid who liked to push my buttons about The Church. I was able to bear it for a couple of years, you know, the Christ-like thing to do, but eventually I snappped. Lets just say he doesnt push my buttons anymore.
My city does have a Catholic school, but I dont think its even worthy of being called a Catholic School. It just gets all the students that cant make it in public school. It is very sad.
hahahahaha. I couldnt resist the oportunity to be the opposite of you all.
And please dont use a cross in a gay porn film. Not because it's gay, but because its porn. ;D
Welcome fellow Non-believer in a Christian school!
I've just saved my kids from this fate. My mum wanted my kids to go to a Church of England school one day a week. They professed to be open to all religions and none, and we had arranged that we could skip assembly. Then when we visited the school the head teacher prompted the children to say grace before lunch. Run away!
Mum's not religious, just a bit disapproving of home education.
Willow.

Well, as far as things being shoved down your throat go, it can get a lot worse than a non-tangible idea.
Welcome. I attended Catholic schools most of my child hood and although I wasn't an atheist than, I had a lot of problems with the religion. One of the only classes I enjoyed were my religion classes, where I would attempt to back the teachers into a corner with their logic. I had pleasant results about 40% of the time.
I'm not saying you should get yourself into trouble, but it may entertain you a bit to ask them difficult questions, or point out the contradictions they teach.
Put some allergen on your hands everytime you go to church or people start praying around you...hands swell up.
Go to doctor. Get perscription to be excluded from prayer. Fixed.
Guess my parents being so caught up in their lives did me a favor. It's sad if you don't stand up with the "norm" you are put out.
