The Laid Back Lounge is for casual discussion. Issues related to philosophy, religion, politics etc should be saved for when you have access to the full board. Please be aware that topics may be moved to the appropriate forum and that this may mean you have to wait to continue the discussion till you reach 10 posts.
Thanks.
Would my politics-related threads be considered controversial, like the "Are You a Fascist" thread?
EDIT: Holy shizzle, new politics forum! :O
I like this probationary style - I suppose it stops the trolls to an extent?
I do feel a bit clipped, like I'm wearing waterwings but thats cools I suppose

It seems to be helping; we just started trying this the end of last month (so I guess about a month ago). So, every now and then you'll see someone who has a low post count that was grandfathered in.
If I asked..........How does Nescafe know that there are 43 beans in every cup of their instant coffee?
Would that be considered controversial?

No...but it also doesn't sound like it needs it's own topic..you could post that in the laid back lounge under what's on your mind
Oh woops. I guess I should go comment on other message boards.
Aww. No Red v. Blue debates?
So if you start it in the proper place can you post immediately.

I think I've already explained how the 50 posts works via pm...I don't understand your question.
Not to play the devils advocate but....
My 2 boyfriends Jose and Gustavo who happen to be Mexican midget wrestlers like to come over with their masks and thigh highs and tickle me and I want to know how my Catholic family may react when I introduce them next week at Easter dinner?
Would this be too controversial or am I just being a horses ass?

Video or it didn't happen.
Well, it wouldn't even be an issue but Gustavo HAS to be an atheist.

Midget thigh highs? You mean socks?

It would be obvious lying...and not because your midget story is a bit beyond belief ;)
Does anyone know of that Dilbert cartoon in which he talks about atoms coming together to make up cells, then cells coming together to make up organs, then organs to make humans, then humans using the internet to come together to make god. Then the dorky guy says something like, "I've never thought of it that way but I am sure going to watch what I search for on the internet from now on." I don't really care about the religious aspect of it. I just thought it was a funny cartoon.

I'm with Davin... there better be a video link in this convo somewhere, or I'm gonna feel cheated. I mean, it doesn't have to be anything kinky (as you're obviously not into that) but we're talking at least full frontal and penetration or it didn't happen.

Everything is controversial. So What should we post here?

There are lots of things that aren't controversial....such as puppies and kittens being cute, how your day was, and other casual topics.

In this context a controversial subject is one likely to spark serious/aggressive debate for which other formal forums are already available e.g. religion, politics etc.
The reasoning behind the 'no controversy' edict is to root out trolls and arseholes that join just to shit disturb. It appears to work adequately as we do appear to have less overt trolls here now. However fb & twitter have become such fertile ground for the pranks of trolls and arseholes that they simply don't bother with niche forums as much as they can get far more 'shits & giggles' elsewhere.

Extropian! Although I see this is an old post, and before you moved out of Australia, I hope you are still monitoring this Forum. Good to see you again!
