2 Kings 2:
23: And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24: And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

she bears? hmmm
See, you should never make fun of god's people or god is going to kill you. But at the same time god is merciful! He was like, “Well, they are little children so I’m not going to send them a “He†bear!†Because everyone knows that she bears are less brutal!
I'm going to ignore the fact that the tone throughout this thread seems largely sarcastic:
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." - Psalm 23:4
Song of Solomon 8:6Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.
"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." -- 1 Cor 13:11
You mean "tare" as in cuddle...right?

Hence I put aside belief in a cosmic granddaddy and talking snakes.

That is one reason why I like the verse.
this topic has been moved to religion because it was sparking debate in an area meant for casual chat.
Looks like a lot of people read the Bible, huh?
Leviticus 26:29 "
And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat."
Deuteronomy 23 "No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord"
I do think this is a very telling phrase with regards to what heaven will be like.
So when we die I assume that we keep our physical attributes at our time of death and take these with us up into heaven to live the afterlife like that for all eternity. Then in heaven it seems there is great importance for men to have their genitles intact. Maybe there is an orgy going on, or maybe God herself wants to have her way with us.
So those of us who die young at our sexual peak, in a way that does not hamper our physicallity would be well positioned for all eternity, given that there are pretty and interesting single women up there and that God of course lets us use our uncrushed un cut off testicles. Hmmm, not so good dying as a baby or foetus, or really old, or in a horrific body destoying way.

Classic tale. Is this the foundation of the tradition of monks abusing young kids?
