Title: Paul Haggis Vs Scientology
Post by: karadan on February 10, 2011, 04:51:03 PM
I just read this entire article (it is pretty bloody long) but if you can stick with it, it is one heck of a read. Paul Haggis has publicly renounced scientology - a cult he was a member of for over thirty five years. I knew David Miscavage was an evil SOB, but this article really hammered it home. The guy is on another planet! Absolutely away with the fairies.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Scientology is definitely one of the more insidious and hypocritical religions out there. I actively enjoy reading about defectors and whistleblowers. I'm totally looking forward to the day we see images of Miscavage (and Cruise) getting cuffed and put into a police car, getting ready for soap duty.

Haggis is a hero for stepping forward on this. Scientology has been given a pass as a protected religion for far too long and many, many people have been victimized by its terrible practices. I cheered when Germany made the move to ban Scientology. They can believe in Xenu and thetans if they choose, but the extortion, blackmail, and abuse absolutely must stop. It's unacceptable in any religion or organization.

Thanks for posting the article, karadan.

Didn't read all 26 pages, but what I did read confirmed what I already thought about the organisation.

Read it all.  It may confirm your thoughts, but it will gain you a few more, to say the least.  It took me a while to read throught the 26 pages, but it was well worth the read.  It also confirmed my thoughts on Scientology, however, now I have a better understanding.  Very detailed article.  I'd like to see the video that Jason Beghe made...will look for it this evening.

Funnily enough, by chance, i watched that video a few months back. I didn't realise he'd pissed them off so much by leaving. As he said in the article, it is a snapshot of him after having left scientology only three months before. Obviously, he was still rather angry at that point. I can't believe how much money they manage to extort out of their wealthy patrons.

It is another long one :)

Excellent article! Thank you!

Scientology is one of the most quickly growing and dangerous cults in the world right now, rivaled only by Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, imo.

To those of you who want to see a little more about Scientology, this is a great documentary I watched awhile back.
