I never watch his show anymore (I did before, when I was young and foolisher...wow, foolisher is actually a word). But he looks like an awesome bald-headed Texan.

What are you talking about? We have Dr. Phil. Though it's on when people are at work. Be thankful for that.

What we also have is the bill for the government's Crap TV twice a year for everyone owning a reciever... So me, I just have a bunch of computer monitors and get my fix of Dagsrevyen by ways of web-TV
Quote from: "JoeBobSmith"this guy was cold as ice
...Yet something makes you think there is more to it..? Can he not be just-cold-as-ice..? Some people are very good at controlling their emotions or setting them aside. One does not need to be incapable of emotions in order to not let them show.
I don't even know why this is a thread.

What we also have is the bill for the government's Crap TV twice a year for everyone owning a reciever... So me, I just have a bunch of computer monitors and get my fix of Dagsrevyen by ways of web-TV :P), so I watch commercial-free television for free. Though I watch shows I've missed on web-TV. I like to watch Nytt på nytt and Lyngbø og Hærlands Big Bang, but I always forget to watch it on Fridays.

Because every forum needs at least one thread on Dr. Phil.

Okay, but only if he cancels his show. No, but I find the Dr. Phil show amusing.

And clichés.... ugh, I'll tune into Dr. Phil whenever they find a guest who can really lay into him.
Quote from: "JoeBobSmith"The psychopath probably doesn't know he is one...
...So? I was asking you to expand on
why he was classifiable as psychopath, as opposed to just a cold-hearted bastard.
QuoteLike a snake doesn't know he's a snake
Snake doesn't know
you refer to it as "snake". How does a snake not know it is a snake though?
Quotebut he does what a snake does because he's hardwired for it
Let us not forget softwiring. A snake is not quite as simple as a collection of reflexes.
Overall point: what's your point?
i don't know
Quote from: "JoeBobSmith"my point, i don't know you in person so will not judge you...i'm not sure i believe your story about the woman and her baby either
Different matter of a different discussion.
Answer the question related to this one, will you? If you want to discuss
me, make an appropriately named thread and I may indulge you with a fact or two.
EDIT: Come to think of it... You quote
yourself in your signature..? The wisdom of those words is... Indescribeable in its absense.
what is your question?
Quote from: "JoeBobSmith"my point, i don't know you in person so will not judge you...i'm not sure i believe your story about the woman and her baby either
Admin is not amused that a whole thread was started for this...
:D
YOU DIDN'T EVEN TELL US THE NAME OF THE EPISODE.
:)
Quote from: "JoeBobSmith"i don't know if u read my drunken post, but i actually don't like deformed babies either...even though you think i'm attacking you, we actually have a lot in common
Arguing a point about my person, rather than about the issue in question is to be considered a pesonal attack. I neither mind nor care, as long as the point also gets addressed, though I appreciate doing such things where they fit and not in unrelated threads.
What do u mean
I never understood why people felt the need to go on national television to resolve their personal issues.

I was talking to my dad about this because he had Springer on (yes, he apparently watches it all the time for some reason). We determined it is for the free vacation because it's probably the only way they could ever afford a vacation.

Ha! Probably so. The Jerry Springer Show is one of my favorite cultural trainwrecks. Really shows how America is in the .... how do I put this? Less evolved areas?
There's a reason I stopped watching television.
Quote from: "ForTheLoveOfAll"There's a reason I stopped watching television.
Indeed. We have willingly been without cable since November and I don't miss it at all. There are only a few shows we catch via the internet but if I couldn't watch them it wouldn't be the end of the world. And this is why Hulu will fail if they decide to go too heavy on the paid side of their offerings. I think more and more people are realizing there just isn't as much need for tv these days; you can find all sorts of entertainment online and there is even this thing called real life where you can do stuff that doesn't involve a glowing box (though that has been a rare event for me recently).
Quote from: "JoeBobSmith"What do u mean by this?
I was refering to the following:
Quote"guys, we are not just some piece of shit randomly floating around in outer space" JoeBobSmith
Quoting yourself in a signature is... Weird. When the signature is written by you, you just drop the quotes and name. For instance, I would make one saying
Smoking is bad. So what?! rather than
"Smoking is bad. So what?!" -AsmodeanThat said, no, we are not just some piece of shit randomly floating in outer space, but that's basically saying "water's not dry". For one, outer space being that which surrounds our planet, our solar system, galaxy or universe, depending on your scale, we are still in the Earth's
inner space, that being that, which is within the atmosphere. For two, we are not randomly floating in it. We have a trajectory which is highly predictable. And because of gravity, we are not exactly floating in the inner space either. For three, "we" can hardly be
one piece of shit, yes?

I'm surprised television even exists anymore. There are far too many informative and entertaining videos on the internet for free now. Though, I'm worried that with the sudden increase in advertisements on YouTube that it may go the same way hulu is. (I never used hulu, actually.)
It wasn't too many years ago when you could actually find something interesting and at least somewhat educational. PBS had some great programming, and I remember when I was a little guy watching Bill Nye The Science Guy, and then on to Nova. but you don't see that anymore. Hell, the cartoons have even dropped in quality. We've gone from things like Popeye (Which I would STILL watch.) to every Japanese wet dream imaginable. It's no wonder the average IQ is dropping at an alarming rate.
Annnd as far as the outside world is concerned, I get plenty of that every day. I'm actually building my own house right now out of cob.
Quote from: "ForTheLoveOfAll"Hell, the cartoons have even dropped in quality.
Nothing like '90s cartoons.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, man. I feel sorry for ANY kid who didn't grow up at some point from 1992 to 1998. I stopped playing video games too (I'm a bookaholic as of the past few years.), but if they made new games for the N64 or the NES, I'd jump on it.
I guess quality is being decreased for the sake of quantity.

You know, I never watched TMNT, but I did watch a lot of Cartoon Network late '90s/early '00s before it became shit.

I used to love that show.
Quote from: "ForTheLoveOfAll"Dexter from Dexter's lab was my role model for years.
Dexter's Lab is awesome so is Pinky and the Brain..... But I'm a child of the 80's, bring back HeMan, Thundercats, Captain Caveman, Super Friends, Voltron........
So I'm the only one that actually watches TV? Though it's usually Discovery, Animal Planet, SyFy, History, Food Network........... And Dexter's Lab on Cartoon Network at 10:30 am weekdays......

Ah, I watched some reruns of Thundercats once. 80's cartoons were great, too. Smurfs, especially. (I think that was in the 80's.)
And I only watch tv now when I'm working out at night, and it's usually Food Network or National Geographic. Though I get sick to my stomach seeing some of the stuff people are willing to eat sometimes.
TV or a movie is always on when I'm sewing, quilting, cooking, canning, doing any needlework, cleaning, etc.....
Prepping food for the dehydrator today and PBS is on.....
Quote from: "JoeBobSmith"im trying to convey the way science like to break down life into it's building blocks...devaluing to say "a piece of shit". but life happens to be much for than the sum of it's parts
The job of science is to tell us what things are, how they work etc...not to make value judgments.
Seems awfully silly to criticize a whole field of study simply because it doesn't do what it wasn't intended to do.
Quote from: "JoeBobSmith"im trying to convey the way science like to break down life into it's building blocks...devaluing to say "a piece of shit". but life happens to be much for than the sum of it's parts
It also encompasses the functions and interactions of and between the named parts and their surroundings and the results thereof, in broad definition, something which has, to my knowledge, not been denied by any semi-serious scientist. Of course, one can make a distinction between
life and the act of
living, but that's a different story.
That said, your point doesn't come across in that signature. Needs better metaphors...
THAT said, the point of my little sig rant was actually this:
