Or at least people you thought were friends.....
I met this person about a year ago, she and I hit it off rather fast, neither of us being of the same mind as the rest of the republican conservatives out here helped in that. We both at the time had fairly open minds, or so I thought. We are about the same age with her being a couple years older than me. We have gone all over the state to shows, for shopping, to get out of the house etc. For a bit she insisted on paying for my lunch due to the fact that we were in a bit of a rough spot in the cash flow area and I unwillingly accepted, making sure to pay her back in other ways.
Then this deal with the move came up, our husbands are both in the same field and this is one of those things that both of us has had to deal with on many occasions. However the way we have gone about our move has apparently offended her and caused her to think she needs to intervene. She constantly asks about the number of animals I have (she apparently can't count or can't remember) and has suggested, well no that's not the word... more of demanded, that I dump them all in a shelter and go find the first place available for rent and move. Obviously she is not an animal person. I refuse to discuss this with her, I simply say don't start and leave it at that. So as a result she called animal control and reported me as an animal hoarder. Our AC officer shows up at the door today, asks to come in, lets me know about the complaint and proceeds to sit on the clean floor and play with the dog I adopted from her 4 years ago, laughing about the absurdity of the report and feeding the hen I have in the kitchen a piece of cabbage. She let me know she was going to see if she can file some sort of fine against her for making a false report as well.
She has also started to really put me down with everything because I think I offended her yet again when I didn't need to read a book to figure out how to do a type of 'craft she decided to show me. I just did it after I scanned the basics. She gave me a lecture! Let me know in no uncertain terms that I can't ignore the directions on traditional blah blah blah (I stopped listening).
We went to a rock show as we had planned before and every booth I visited she inspected what I bought and reprimanded me for spending money. Apparently she forgot that my hubby now has a real job and we have a little extra cash.
And I was accused of being autistic yesterday because I laugh at the funny things the little old ladies do at our quilt club. Apparently I may have offended someone when I giggled about this massive huge bunco tournament they were gossiping over. I don't care if I offend people, it was a blast seeing all these older ladies so excited, I had to laugh.
Most of this has happened in the last 5 days. I'm not planning on speaking with her for quite a while if again before I move. Which we are taking our time on because the bank is dragging its feet and we want to make sure we find the right place for us. The psychology side of my head has diagnosed her as a very insecure controlling person who has had some sort of trauma in her early life while the 'I finally have a friend my age' side of my head is going "what the fuck happened here?"
You just never know with some of the people you meet. I'm still scratching my head over this and laughing hysterically at the idea of me being an animal hoarder........
You have my sympathies. You never can tell with some people. Good thing you had a good relationship with the inspector lady!

Considering I was the only rescue other than the shelter here in the county for 2 years, I take, raise and place all the bottle babies she has come through and I'm her go to chicken person, yeah we have a good relationship. I still help her get the shelter critters taken care of and adopted and will until the day I leave.
I've had similar problems with a friend turning on me for no apparent reason, so I can sympathize.
Some people have mental problems and can act unpredictably even if they have been nice towards you for quite some time and it's not your fault if they can't control themselves or don't seek medical help in controlling themselves...I guess just be glad that you are moving away from her and hopefully you can make an even better friend once you are relocated.
It is the weirdest thing though. Even after having several long conversations with hubby over all of this I still have trouble wrapping my brain around it. It's like a switch was flipped from normal to crazy. At first I thought it was just me but after talking it through with hubby and my 'adopted mom' out here, I've come to the realization that it's bizarre and I didn't do it for once lol
"Is that what happens to you when you're catholic and have to drink wine from the same cup as everyone else? You get like some type of holier than thou virus or something?" lol
some people will decide "what you should do with your life" and then try to bully you into it "for your own good" or until you dump them as friends. A while back I had some "friends" confront me on my need to "get right with Jesus" and assert that I was just causing my illness by denying God. Three ex-friends now, I tell you. And they weren't the first people to accuse me of "causing my own illness" for whatever reason. They appeared to be normal before that.
I can relate to a degree... Have a friendship that is falling apart through no fault of my own. Well, come that which come must, I suppose...

How many animals do you have? Just curious.
4 dogs, 7 cats, and 4 chickens left (they live outside

).
Holy crap you own a zoo! How much is admission? Do you have a petting area? And do I get a non-religious discount?
Actually thats not too bad. Growing up my mom and I once had 8 cats, 6 dogs and a horse. None of which live with me now, thank god.
That sounds like my house growing up, and several of my neighbors.
Admission is free as long as you pet Elvis and can handle a 90 pound hyper dane mix that thinks she's a chihuahua.

LOL a dane that think's she's a Chihuahua? Now that sounds interesting. I would pay at least $1 to see that alone.
The problem is, cats add so much more to the crazy quotient. Just a few cats is enough to raise eyebrows, but a large plurality of dogs is just seen as a healthy "pack".

I have an 8lb miniature Jack Russell who thinks she's a Wolf, you can see her for free!
