There is a project coming out that has Kent Cullers, Temple Grandin, Debra Winger, as well as many other musicians and actors. I believe that the piece is a conceptual piece about fear, life, reality, and humanness. Was wondering what you guys would think of it....The website is a bit confusing but leads you to some interesting places...

here's one of the many trailers...

... I'm not getting any of those concepts from watching the trailer.
Just not my cup of meat.
I don't know what to make of it but one name grabbed my attention hard: Temple Grandin. She is autistic and has used the insights her autism gives to her to make a significant mark on the world. She is the author of Animals in Translation - http://www.amazon.com/Animals-Translation-Mysteries-Autism-Behavior/dp/0156031442/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292355242&sr=1-1
If she is in it, then I might pay money to see this movie. Temple Grandin is a hero of mine.
what do you get from it? I definitely believe it is some sort of mind fuck type of movie...

Well, to be blunt...
I'm getting wooden acting, pretentious writing, and a plot designed to confuse and string the viewer along for as long as possible.
I never cared for movies/videos/series like that.
The ending is never enough to justify all the garbage you have to sift through to find the message.
Mostly it strikes me as a poorly executed marketing gimmick to sell a product that doesn't really exist (ie. the movie itself)
Not trying to be negative or mean, but that was my honest first impression. And my second one, too.
I have explored the website and it has brought me here where ideas of reality and humanness are discussed .... i do not think there is a plot anymore only an idea

they just released a video clip of the cartoon editor from the New Yorker

i found it at http://headville.net/ (http://headville.net/)
My impression is that it looks like a joke.
Has anyone been keeping up with this project? My friend sent me a huffington post article about it today

If you are here to simply advertise this film, you are going to be considered a spammer and will be shown the exit.
Hello,
FarFromFrozen. Have you read William Gibson's
Pattern Recognition? If so, do you see some similarity between a couple of the themes in that novel and this "film project?" It almost seems like the producers of this project have modeled it after a plot-line in the novel. From what I've seen so far of it, I'm inclined to agree with
joeactor:

I admire the producer's willingness to experiment with the form, but I'm less than enthralled by the content I've seen.
(The pissant little computer I'm using at the moment hates the website, by the way. It managed to avoid freezing up, but was nearly overwhelmed by the high bandwidth use which the website requires.)

I appreciate the interest.
This project is mysterious and deep. I am into this. If you are not that's fine I just thought some people would be curious and interested in at as I am.

I finished Pattern Recognition and wow, thanks for the suggestion. This is an author I can see myself reading more. I am a big fan of this genre...would it be considered cyberpunk?
I see some of the resemblance with the book you speak of.
Which strikes you the strongest?
oh yes and they are making a movie of the book

Second post directed to you. Are you here simply to promote a movie or participate in the forum? You need to make this clear, please.
It's obviously an Indie rip-off of the Blair Witch Project... on acid.

You're welcome. Gibson is one of my favorite contemporary authors; I'm happy to turn other people on to his work. He was one of the founding members of the cyberpunk movement within SF, in fact his novel
Neuromancer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuromancer) is considered "a seminal work in the cyberpunk genre." However, I wouldn't call
Pattern Recognition a cyberpunk novel. It barely even qualifies as science fiction.

I'm thinking specifically of "the footage."

Though there may be some similarities between the two, I really don't see "In the Woods" as a rip-off of "The Blair Witch Project." For one thing, "Blair Witch" is clearly and unequivocally a horror film, and I don't think that "In the Woods" belongs in that category. It seems more like an elliptical attempt to get people to think. About what, I really couldn't say.
Well, if FarFromFrozen doesn't soon answer the PM or board request to clarify his intent, it won't matter what anyone thinks of his posts. He's headed for the Ban Wagon due to his continued spam entries and lack of follow up to moderator requests for a reply.
