Hello, I am an atheist who lives in the Deep South. As you might expect, I am constantly surrounded by religious people. I was forced to go to church while growing up. I suppose you could say that I believed in God, but it was not really a conscious decision on my part. I just was not very aware of any alternatives. I started questioning my religion at around the age of 15, and I stopped attending church as soon as my mom would allow me to stop (at around the age of 16).
I am now a recent college graduate. Most people who know me know that I am an atheist, but there are still a few people I have not told. I likely will never tell my grandmother because, frankly, it would probably give her a heart attack.
Anyway, I look forward to getting to know all of you on this forum.
Welcome, is one of your brains making an error with the spelling of brain?
Anyway, here's your genuine unauthorised HAF steak knife, use it wisely.

No, this is what my username refers to:

I am currently reading Brian Greene's
The Fabric of the Cosmos where he discusses this topic.
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Hi Three_Brane
Welcome aboard, I've been away for a couple of weeks an I'm playing catch up on my greeting duties!
