So as is most likely readily apparent by my posting in the Introductions thread, I'm new here.
In the spirit of being honest I'm not
entirely atheist, this is the reason why I joined this forum. Let me explain my mindset: For the longest time I have believed in the namesless, faceless, impersonal god that so many neo-pagans believe in. Recently I've come to the
intellectual understanding that there is no; nor does there need to be, a god. This is where my conflict comes in, the ever present battle between belief and rationality.
Truly and honestly I want to live a life free of thoughts such as "Oh God(s) please let this happen to or for me." But I'm finding it hard to stop those little thoughts from cropping up.
I realize that so long as I believe there is a power guiding my life I'm not taking full responsibility for my choices or my actions. I don't know if any of you are or have been in a similar situation, but any insight or advice would be more than welcome. :P Or to quote an infamous line "I want to believe."
Anyhow, that's where I stand as I said, input is hoped for.

Regards,
Stalk
Don't worry Stalkholm, they haven't burnt any believers while I've been here.
Welcome.

McQ...I'm not sure if you meant that response intentionally. If you did..It's genius. If not...then I give you too much credit haha.
Anyway...welcome stalk. I don't think Mulder was talking about god.
Haha, thanks all, I appreciate the warm welcome.

Yeah, I know Mulder was talking about nearly everything /except/ God, still share his sentiment though.
So we.... don't.... burn theists? Here I thought we took people out behind the shed and beat on 'em for a while for having their own belief system. I've been doing this atheist thing wrong the whole damn time!

Welcome.
But BEFORE that time... Ooh, the fires!

Don't worry. You are not alone. I sometimes quip 'oh god' especially in orgasmic situations. Welcome mate!
